Saturday - Race Day – Boat and equipment drop off, packet pick up, chip pick up and check in will begin at 6:30am. After drop-off and check in, all those utilizing the shuttle should proceed down Hwy 61 to the Inn at Middleton Place (not the plantation) located at 4290 Ashley River Rd, a 12-minute drive from the race start. Please follow the signs and look for event parking staff upon arrival. After parking, racers should proceed to the shuttle pickup area to return to the race start, taking one of the Summerville YMCA buses. Packet pick up will stop at 9:00am, 30 minutes before race start. Coastal Coffee Roasters will provide a coffee bar at the start. Last shuttle leaves the Inn at Middleton Place at 8:45am. Please plan accordingly.

All paddlers are required, in accordance with SC State Law, to wear a personal floatation device at all times throughout the paddle. If any racer is found on the water without their PFD, they will be disqualified from the race.
Packets contain:
Whistles – Should be attached to each racer’s PFD for emergencies or to warn other boaters you are in the vicinity.  This is also in accordance with SC State Law.
Wristbands – Each racer must wear their wrist band for the race and to the post party at the Inn at Middleton Place.
Bibs – Each racer must secure their bib to the front of their shirt
Boat Stickers – Stickers, that coincide with bib numbers, must be placed on the front starboard (right) side of the boat. Chips will not be used to record your final time, only your split between the run and paddle.  If your number is not visible, we cannot record your time.
Race T-shirts, give away items and sponsor information – If there is a discrepancy with your t-shirt, please do not return it to the check in table. We will handle returns after the race. If you registered after February 21st, you may receive your shirt at a later date.
Chips – Chips can be picked up Saturday morning and must be turned in immediately following the paddle. The cost of chips ($45) not returned will be the responsibility of the racer.
Relays – If you are part of a relay team, the paddler must wait for their partner who is running to reach them and hand off their chip before bringing their boat to the water.
Safety – There will be course marshals and emergency personnel for the trail run. There will also be multiple safety boats and agencies spread along the water in case of an emergency.
Race Updates – If you would like text updates about the race, please turn this feature on in your racer profile.
Upon completion of the 5K trail run, racers will proceed to the boat staging area where Summerville High School Navy JROTC cadets will assist racers with getting their boats down to the river access.
The Ashley River is a tidal river. To avoid paddling against the tide the last few miles of your trip (and to get the most out of your party experience!), make sure to arrive at Middleton before 1PM.
At the end of the 8.5-mile paddle, there will be 2 buoys located on river right in front of the Inn at Middleton Place that paddlers must pass between. There will also be a volunteer boat directing racers toward the buoys.  Please call out your bib number (as a backup to the numbered sticker on your boat) to the timer as you pass by. Take-out is on river right just beyond the buoys. Staff from Crunch Fitness will help carry your boat to our trailer, which will shuttle boats to the racer parking area for your convenience. After loading your boat and equipment at your vehicle, proceed back to the courtyard at the Inn to enjoy the party festivities!
The post party at the Inn at Middleton Place is included in your race registration. Please plan on joining us for some BBQ, beer/wine, entertainment, lawn games and the awards ceremony. Seating is limited so you may want to bring a chair or blanket. Admission to Middleton Plantation is not included in your fee, but can be purchased separately should you wish to tour the grounds.
