Event Description

SUMMARY

Join runners from all over Metro Atlanta for the Sandy Springs Education Force (SSEF) 6th Annual Footprints for the Future 5K/10K Road Race. Both races are a USTAF Certified Race Course and a certified AJC Peachtree Road Race Qualifier! The race will begin for a second year at the City Springs Green city center and run through the heart of Sandy Springs. After-race festivities aimed at raising literacy awareness are currently being planned and will be held on the City Springs Green space, details to come soon.... After-race entertainment includes a DJ, vendor booths, snacks and we are also planning a fun run (costumes strongly encouraged this close to Halloween!), The Heritage Sandy Springs Farmer’s Market will also be on-site for runners to enjoy.

EVENT DETAILS

This is a professionally managed race. Both events will also be professionally timed. Each participant will receive a race bib with a timing chip attached to the bib. The 10K will begin on Galambos Way at the front of the entrance to the City Center next to the Green. The 10K will begin ahead of the 5K race. Once the 10K begins runners for the 5K will line up on the other side of City Center on Johnson Ferry Road and the 5K will begin as soon as all 10K runners pass through the 5K starting line. Both Races will end at the same finish line just across the street from City Center on Johnson Ferry Road, which will be closed off during the race from Roswell Road to Mount Vernon Hwy. Race Results will be posted at the Finish Line with plenty of bottled Water to cool off! The course will be well marked with signs, volunteers, traffic cones, and police.  The race is open to strollers and walkers for the 5K only but for safety reasons and the chip timing for competitive runners stroller and walkers will not start until after all runners clear the starting line.

The Route Map is posted below, please Click the PDF and also check out the video about our organization and what we do!

WHY RUN

Great Exercise! But more importantly proceeds will support SSEF literacy programs and events. Also, did you see the AJC Peachtree Road Race Qualifier? We are hoping to have many students and educators in attendance on race day. SSEF creates targeted programs that educate, inspire and prepare public school students in Sandy Springs for a competitive world. We also think this race is a great opportunity to take a run through Sandy Springs, enjoy the City Springs Green, check out the Heritage Sandy Springs Farmers Market, and show your support for Sandy Springs Public Schools through the programs SSEF provides.

Online registration is expected to close Wednesday night on the week prior to Road Race Saturday. After online registration closes you will have two chances to sign up for the race at Pre Packet Pickup (directions and time below) and on race morning at City Springs Green (look for registration signs) from 6:45am - 7:40am.
