Event Description

Sunday Sept. 22 2019

Multisport athletes will be challenged to a continuous 7-Stage Race covering 26.2 miles.

Wells Mills County Park will host a "one of a kind" event this coming September. The Triathlon is a run/bike/run/swim/run/bike/run covering a total of 26.2 miles with 6 transitions. There are 4 unique trail runs, 2 bike legs on quite rolling country roads and one lake swim. The Duathlon will be the same course minus the swim.

5k Run/Walk

The 5k run/walk will be run on the same 3.1 mile course as stage 7 from the Tri/Du. This course has beautiful scenic trails and takes you around the lake. The run also has great single track trails that wind you through tall cedars and over long foot bridges.

Triathlon

The Tri starts with a 1.25 mile run on MainTrail and the east section of Penn Hills trail. First half mile is open then you enter some single trail winding trails past briar patches and swamps and back into transition. You then head out on a 9 mile road bike course. The bike course is one road (wells mill road) with just two u-turns but not very flat with lots of rolling hills. Once back into transition, put on the running gear and head out on a 2.25 mile trail run to the lake at Citta Boyscout Reservation. The first mile is main trail then you drop off into a challenging and technical creek path and then loop around the lake before entering the water for a .4 mile swim. During the run around the lake you get a great view of the swim course. Pending water temp. you may have a support bag placed at lake (ie. wetsuits). If water is not cold you will need to carry swim gear to lake with you (ie. Goggles) There will be aid stations on run course. After swim, you run 1.75 miles back to transition through more trails and some foot bridges. You mount your bike for one more 9.0 mile ride on same course. When you return to transition you again gear up for one final 3.1 mile trail run taking to you the finish.Check out the links above for each stage and their profiles on garminconnect.

Duathlon

The Du is on the same course as mentioned in the Tri except when you get to the lake you don't swim you just run around the lake and then return to transition for the next bike stage.

5k Run/Walk

The 5k run/walk begins about 10 minutes before the Tri/Du. The runners follow the 3.1 mile, stage 7, that takes runners around the lake on great single track trails and over foot bridges to the finish.
