Event Description

The Don Gillum Memorial Bike/Hike is a fun, non-competitive event for individuals of all ages, and for families who call the Northwoods home or vacation in the area. The 2019 event has adopted a theme of “Seek and Find”, featuring a scavenger hunt and geocaching along an 8.3-mile segment of the Conover-Phelps Biking/Hiking Trail (CP Trail). Just ride or hike or choose to seek and find clues to answer questions or locate geocaches to enhance your hiking/biking experience! Participants may choose to do any or all activities. Music, hearty food, drawings and a festive atmosphere round out the experience starting & ending in the Community Park in Conover on Hwy K. Registrants will receive an event t-shirt and a goodie bag, lunch and a bucket raffle ticket. Prizes will include 2 youth bikes and several other prizes for people of all ages. 

This event is co-sponsored by Great Headwaters Trail, American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life of the Northwoods, and the Conover & Phelps Chambers of Commerce. Proceeds will benefit the Phelps/Conover Trail and the American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge/Relay for Life.

Registration and Check-in begins at 8 am

Clue sheets, coordinates and geocache log sheets provided at check-in

Registrants will receive a goodie bag, event shirt, lunch ticket and one bucket raffle ticket. Additional raffle tickets can also be purchased. 

Welcome/Safety Instructions/Logistics information provided at 8:45 am

Lunch and live musical entertainment in the park 11:30 am to 1:30 pm

Clue and Log Sheets can be turned in at the park for verification

Bucket Raffles and Grand Prize Drawings will be held shortly after 12:30.
