Event Description
Because we love you and care deeply about your health and well-being we have to make the announcement that this year’s R4F5K will look different from the past 8 years. Due to the ongoing concerns of coronavirus and all of the uncertainty surrounding large gatherings, this year’s event will be held virtually. We held out for as long as we could, hoping for the possibility that an in-person event could still be organized. However, for the safety of our runners, volunteers, vendors, spectators, and host site- it just isn’t an option this year.
Back in January we made the announcement that our beneficiary for this year would be Rise Up for Youth. They have been partners and friends of ICT SOS since the beginning and due to COVID-19 they have had to cancel both of their major annual fundraising events for their mentoring programs. We do not intend to be one more loss for them! ICT SOS and Race 4 Freedom are committed to honoring our partnership with RUFY through the 2020 Race and we see this as an opportunity to not only reach, but exceed, our fundraising results from past years.
So, while we can’t gather in person this year on race day- we’ll be sharing ways you can sponsor, train for a 5K, register to be a virtual participant, set up your own fundraising page, learn about this year’s RUFY graduates, get awesome (and funny) race shirts and much, much more.
Please know this decision was not made hastily and our team is devastated to not be able to throw our annual running party for all of our friends. The running community has supported us for 9 years now and believe us when we say year 10 is going to be a PAR-TAY! But this year, we need you more than ever to help us turn around a tough situation and make it something beautiful!
