Event Description
The 18th Annual Helen Gold 5K – 10K charity event September 7th has grown from 200 runner-walkers in 2001 to over 1,000 participants. Our race is part of the Race KC Series, supported by the KC Running Club and RaceDay Timing and is heralded as one of the best-organized runs in the Metro Area.
Four Ways to Register:
- Mail entry form with payment. (MAILED registrations postmarked after August 26, 2019 cannot be guaranteed).
- In person through Sept 5, 2019 at Race Directors Office (M-F 8:30-4:30 pm) 6755 W. 119th Street
- Online until Noon Sept 5, 2019
- At Packet Pickup – Sept 6, 2019 (11 am to 6 pm) or Race Day Sept 7, 2019 (starts at 7 am)
Participants begin to arrive at 7 a.m. on race day, September 7th at the La Paloma Plaza shopping center located at 119th & Glenwood in Overland Park. The run/walk starts and ends on Glenwood Street; 10K Run starts at 8 a.m. followed by the 5K Run and then by the 5K Walkers. Our Kids Fun Run starts approximately 9:15 a.m. inside La Paloma Plaza while chip times are being calculated and placement winners have crossed the finish line on Glenwood.
The Awards Ceremony starts at approximately 9:30 am and a total 60 metals are presented:
- First and Second place male and female runners in both 5K and 10K will each receive cash and a New Balance store certificate.
- $100 bonus to the overall top runners who beat the course record:
- 5K Male 14:55.3, 5K Female 18:01.2
- 10K Male 33:05.6, 10K Female 37:57.6
- Medals are also presented & announced for FIRST PLACE ONLY Age Brackets winners for both male & female runners for 5K and 10K. Age brackets are: 0-17, 18-25, 26-31, 32-39, 40-45, 46-50, 51-55, 56-60, 61-66, 67-73, 74-79 and 80+
