Event Description

In 2009, Loudoun County led the Northern Virginia region in reported Lyme disease cases. According to the CDC, the United States has 38,000 new cases of Lyme each year. However, the disease is difficult to diagnose and the actual figure may be 10 times as great.

The 9th Annual FinishLyme 5K/1K (formally Loudoun Lyme) and Virtual Races will drive awareness and raise money to help find a cure for Lyme disease - the number one tick-borne illness in the United States. The FinishLyme 5K/1K and Virtual Races, will also feature an information fair to educate the public about Lyme disease, its causes, symptoms and treatments.

Virtual 5k/1k Race:
Running FinishLyme virtually was created for those who have a passion about raising money for NatCap Lyme but may not be able to physically join in on the fun at Fairfax Corner on May 19th.

How does it work?
With May being Lyme Disease Awareness Month, choose to run/walk at any location, time of day or day of the week you want! You can use the treadmill, run outside, your own course, another race, or get your running group together. You can run the event any day before the race, on race day or through May 31!

When is race swag mailed out?

Race swag of an event medal, Lyme related swag item, and Lyme race bib will be mailed the 15 - 20 the of each month until May 20. All registering after May 20th, can expect their race items closer to the end of the month. 

Do I need to pay for shipping?
Price includes shipping of race swag inside the US.

Note: Those participating virtually are not eligible for awards or door prizes being offered at the FinishLyme Race event on May 19th. No refunds will be offered.

Team Challenge
Make it more fun! Form a team to represent a family, company or a group of friends and compete against other teams! Register individuals as a team separately and list the team name when asked. Team name must be exactly the same for each team member. Teams consist of at least 4 & must include at least 1 female and 1 male. Top 4 finishers’ times will be combined to determine the team's time. Top 3 overall teams for the 5K will win and receive an award.

5K Course:
3.1 mile certified course will start and finish at Fairfax Corner and take you through the neighborhood streets of Fairfax Corner. 5K course will be open for 60 min.

1K course:
.65 distance will start and finish at Fairfax Corner and take you through the neighboring streets of Fairfax Corner. Course will be open for 30 min.

Awards:
Awards will be awarded to the overall male and overall female, second place overall male and second place overall female and to the top two male and female finishers in the following age groups for both the 5K and 10K 12 and under, 13–14, 15 - 18, 19–29, 30–39, 40–49, 50–59, 60–69, and 70+

Race Beneficiary:
The National Capital Lyme Disease Association is committed to helping patients diagnosed with tick-borne infections through education, support, and review of public policies concerning these diseases. NatCapLyme encourages individuals to advocate for themselves in their goal to regain their health.

The organization offers regular patient support group meetings throughout Virginia, information, speakers, and news updates on legislative and scientific developments. NatCapLyme educates government policy makers and legislators on Lyme & tick-borne diseases and raises funds to support Lyme research.

Please note: There are no refunds. This event is rain or shine. Should you need to transfer your registration to another runner you may sign into your active account and follow the instructions to transfer your registration while online registration is open. Transfers will not be excepted after online registration closes.
