Event Description

Mark your calendars for the fifth annual Special Olympics Michigan Area 19 (Jackson County), chip timed 5K Run/Walk at the beautiful Ella Sharp Park located at 2800 Fourth St. Jackson, MI 49203. The race will be held on Sunday September 15th at 9 a.m. with a SOMI athlete/kids Fun Run to follow.

Awards will be given for  Overall male, Overall female, 1st-3rd places for divisions Male, Female, Male masters (40+) and Female Masters (40+) for both the 5k run and the 5k walk.

Packet pick up will be on Saturday September 14th from 3pm-5pm at the Special Olympics office 3010 Wildwood Ave Suite 6 Jackson MI.

Race Day Registration and packet pick up will start at 7am

Proceeds from this race will be used to provide year round sports training and athletic competition for persons with intellectual disabilities. All proceeds stay in Jackson, County.

The race will be professionally timed by the Michigan Running Foundation. Results will be posted during the race and on the web at Playmakers.com.

* Please note that race shirts cannot be guaranteed if registered after September 1st and will be given to registrants on a first come / first serve basis while supplies last.  

The main entrance on Fourth Street to Ella Sharp Park will be Closed on Sunday due to construction. No worries! We have you covered with alternate entrances to the park! There is always more than one way to reach your destination!!  Ella Sharp Park can be entered from S. Jackson Rd, Stonewall or Probert Rd.
