For a free, fun-filled day for all ages don’t miss the North Shore Ocean Fest!

The North Shore Ocean Fest, an annual fundraiser sponsored by North Shore Ocean Education
Coalition, will be held Saturday, June 1, 2019, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the Bay View Beach Lawn at Turtle Bay Resort. The theme for Ocean Fest for 2019 is “How we can protect our Hawaiian Islands from Climate Change”. The event honors “World Oceans Day,” celebrated annually on June 8 since 2002 to promote ocean education worldwide. “This celebration of the ocean and sustainability is “Plastic FREE”! Ocean Fest wants to lead by example, to show our children how they can live more sustainably without one-use plastics!” said Dotty Kelly Paddock, coordinator of the North Shore Ocean Fest will again feature K-12 student art and poetry celebrating the ocean. Winning entries for 2019 will be displayed at the North Shore Ocean Fest and 1-5 th place winners will be recognized at a special awards ceremony, Please note that our Ocean Fest program for 2019 features the art of one of our ocean Fest contest winners!

The mission of the North Shore Ocean Education Coalition is to increase awareness and knowledge about the ocean, marine life, and ecosystems in order to protect, restore, and manage the use of ocean resources and inspire local and global conservation. The Ocean Fest event is one big day of learning all about the ocean AND with funds provided by Ocean Fest we have added year-round Saturday EDventure activities that provide aina-based, experiential learning for K-12 students on the North Shore. The North Shore Ocean Education Coalition partners includes: The National Humpback Whale Marine Sanctuary, Hawaii Marine Mammal Response, Malama Pupukea-Waimea, Dolphin Quest, Kokua Hawaii Foundation, Turtle Bay Resort, Windward Community College and Hui O Hauula.
