Event Description

Please join us the 21st annual Na Wahine Festival, Hawaii's premier all-women's triathlon. Set in beautiful Waikiki, you will swim in the blue waters Waikiki and then ride through the picturesque neighborhood of Kahala and Diamond and finish with a flat fast run around Kapiolani Park. 

Women of all ages (12 and over) and levels come to participate in the memorable event, from pros to beginners. 

Women's Festival 5K - a stand alone 5K running event for women and girls of all ages.

Live music, great food and lots of prizes available for everyone.

Start Time 6:30am
Two sprint distance multi-sport events and a 5K run will be taking place on the same race course.
Short Course (Super Sprint) participants will follow all PINK signs and all other events will please follow all of the GREEN signs on the route.

•Na Wahine Sprint Triathlon (Long Course) - 500m swim/12-mile bike/5k run
•Na Wahine Super Sprint Triathlon (Short Course) – 250m swim/6-mile bike/5k run
  • Na Wahine 5K - 3.1 mile run - start time 7:15am
500 meter/250 meter Swim Course
The swim course for both the 250-meter and 500-meter is a shore line swim at Queen’s surf. You will start in the water and swim along the shore keeping the buoys on your left shoulder. For the 500m-you will make a left hand turn at the furthest buoy and return along the shore to the finish. For the Super Sprint 250m- you will make the turn at the half way buoy. Both swims will make a right shoulder turn at the finish buoy and exit the water and run across the park to the transition area near the Bandstand.
 
12-mile and 6-mile Bike Course
The bike route will start at Kapiolani Park near the Marathon finish. You will head east on Kalakaua Ave., turn right on Monsarrat, left on 18th Ave., right on Kilauea, right on Makaiwa St. (across from Kahala Mall), left on Moho St., right on Keala‘olu Ave. and proceed to the 3-way stop. Right on Kahala Ave., right on Paikau St. and right on Diamond Head Road. You will make a right turn on 18th Ave. and make a second loop following the route as mentioned above. Failure to make the second loop will be grounds for disqualification. After the second loop, you pass Paikau and will head up and over Diamond Head Road to Kalakaua Ave. You will enter the park and finish where you started.

Super Sprint 6- mile course will ride the same course as stated above and WILL NOT MAKE 2 loops – you will go past Paikau and follow the same route to the finish. (Swim and Spin finish line is to the left of the dismount line).
 
5K and 1.6 mile Run Course
The run course is a flat, fast one-loop course around the Zoo and Kapiolani Park. As you exit the transition area, you will proceed to make a clockwise loop around the Zoo, crossing Monsarrat and then turning right on Kapahulu. Make a right turn onto Paki Avenue and a right onto Monarrat. You will run on Monsarrat a short ways, and then turn around heading back toward Paki. You will make a right turn on Paki Avenue and continue to follow Paki all the way around the park, veering right, onto the grass behind the tennis courts toward the finish line. 

Super Sprint will make a clockwise loop around Kapiolani Park only, following the PINK signage.
 
Rules and Information
The Na Wahine Sprint Festival is a USA Triathlon sanctioned race.
A one-day ($15) or annual license is required for each athlete.
Fees and Deadlines
Regular entry by July 24, 2019
Late fee $10 after July 25, 2019
Packet Pick-up
Thursday, July 25 from 12-6:00pm and Friday, July 26 from 12-6:00pm at Boca Hawaii.
Bike/Run Set Up
Athletes will be able to set up their race equipment (bike, helmet, shoes, run attire, …)
in the transition area the morning of the race from 4:45 a.m. – 6:15 a.m.
USAT Sanctioned Event
USA Triathlon is the national governing body for the sports of triathlon, duathlon,
winter triathlon and aquathlon in the United States. Participation in a USAT sanctioned
event means the event director has the proper permits in place, liability and athlete
excess medical insurance coverage and the event plan has met the standard of
organization required.

USA Triathlon provides rules, guidance and governance to set the standard for

Additional Information
The roads of Kahala have been newly paved so we are looking forward
to a nice smooth bike ride.
