Event Description
Come out and participate in the Houston Young Lawyers Foundation 2019 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, August 24, 2019! This end of the summer race to beat the heat will start at 7:30 am at the Sam Houston Park in downtown Houston located at 1100 Bagby St., Houston, TX 77002. Participants will go out and back along Allen Parkway. Following the event, a great post race party is planned at Sam Houston Park where there will be music, food, drinks, and fun for the whole family!
RACE INFORMATION:
The race will be chip timed, and the course is USAT&F sanctioned & certified - # TX16069ETM. Prizes will be awarded based on chip time per gender and age groups and per 4 member team. There will also be drawings for some great door prizes. Strollers are permitted, but please leave your pets behind at Sam Houston Park.
PACKET PICK-UP:
Packet Pick-up will be at Finish Strong Sports located at 6426 Washington Ave., Houston, TX 77007, and will occur only on Friday, August 23, 2019 from noon to 2pm and 4pm to 7pm.
TEAM REGISTRATION:
Participants have the ability to join or register a 4 person team if desired. We will give awards to the fastest legal team and the fastest non-legal team. If on a team, a participant is only allowed to be a member of 1 team. If registering a legal team, please name the team after your law firm or legal organization. We hope to inspire some serious competition amongst Houston's law firms, legal entities, and other teams!!

PARKING:
Free race day parking will be available at The Central Parking Lot at 401 West Dallas St., Houston, TX 77002. The entrance is off of West Dallas St. near the intersection of Clay St. A parking slip can be found in your race packet, and the parking slip will need to be displayed on your dashboard when parking for the event. Also, appropriately metered street parking should be free until 8am.
BENEFICIARIES:
The Houston Young Lawyers Foundation 5K benefits HYLF’s Grant Program and Change Happens! Change Happens! has a variety of local programs and services such as youth development, substance abuse prevention and treatment, supportive services to the homeless, HIV prevention, and assistance to families of uninsured children applying for health insurance services. ADDITIONAL REGISTRATION INFORMATION:
Registration will be available during Packet Pickup at Finish Strong Sports. Race day registration will also be available for $35, but will close 30 minutes prior to the race.
