Event Description
For 2019, the Athletes Helping Athletes event offers five (5) registration categories:
- 5K Runner - will run in the race; will be officially timed
- 5K Race Walker - will race walk in the race; will be officially timed
- 1M Walker - will walk the 1 mile walk
- Virtual Runner - DOES NOT run or walk at the race but may run, jog or walk at ANY OTHER location; must post a photo and their own time to SEGA 5K's Facebook page or Instagram account
- Phantom Supporter- DOES NOT run or walk in the race
NOTE - Virtual Runners and Phantom Supporters may attend the day of the race but cannot run the race. Virtual Runner times will not be part of officially timed results.
Registered participants may use their active.com account to change their registration category (e.g., to switch from a walker to a phantom runner) at anytime until Wednesday, October 2, 2019.
Regardless of the registration category you choose, the first 200 runners to register will receive a long sleeve performance shirt. SEGA has a limited number of each size. We will do our best to accommodate your size request. Registering early will more likely ensure you receive the requested size.
The Athletes Helping Athletes 5K is certified by USA Track & Field.
100% of the proceeds from the race go directly to Southeastern Greyhound Adoption and its adoption program. This race is being held to raise funds to support SEGA's efforts to help former Greyhound racers. Your entry fee will be used to transport, then vet and house former racing Greyhounds until they find their forever homes. Our ultimate goal is to find forever homes for all former racers. When you adopt a former racing Greyhound, you take home a wonderful, gentle companion. You also save the life of a magnificent purebred dog that will spend the rest of his years returning your favor with unconditional love and affection.
USA Track & Field Rule 144.3(b) prohibits the possession and use of headphones and similar devices on the racecourse. For safety measures, radio or other head/electronic devices are NOT allowed at races.
Event details and schedule
The race begins at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2019. Packet Pick-Up and Same Day Registration open at 6:30 a.m.
Packet Pick-Up: Packet pick up will take place the morning of the race.
Parking: There is plenty of parking at the event location. Parking is free.
