Event Description

Kent Goes Purple, a component fund of the Mid-Shore Community Foundation, is a county-wide substance abuse awareness initiative that is being led by the Kent County Sheriff's Office and Chestertown Rotary Club to engage our community and youth to stand up against substance abuse. Proceeds from the 5K Color Fun Run will help support the programs and events developed to drive this message home. Event details and schedule

The price for on-site registration is $40 for participants 18 and older and $20 for those under 18 years of age. Cash, checks, and credit cards will be accepted - on-site registrants will be expected to produce a government-issued photo ID and to execute a Waiver and Release of Claims. 

Race Day Registration/Check in begins at 7:30 a.m. at Wilmer Park. Participants will pick up their color run/walk packet which includes a t-shirt.   

PLEASE DRESS APPROPRIATELY!  PARTICIPANTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO ARRIVE EQUIPPED WITH TOWELS OR OTHER TYPE OF COVERINGS TO SHIELD THEIR VEHICLE INTERIORS FROM POTENTIAL COLOR POWDER RESIDUE.  

The parking lot at Wilmer Park will be closed to traffic but parking is available in the Stepne Station parking lot across the street.

The Color Fun Run will start and finish at Wilmer Park. Start time is 8:30 a.m. The course proceeds southeast along Quaker Neck Road and then heads northwest up John Hanson Road, which involves a challenging hill and a few curves amongst views of the bucolic Kent County countryside. At the halfway mark the run reverses course and heads back to the finish line in Wilmer Park.

Water stations will be available throughout the course, but feel free to bring additional food/beverages as you require.
