Event Description
Campus Recreation is proud to present the Valley View Mike Donahue Memorial 5 Miler hosted at Hydaway Outdoor Center on Saturday, November 14, 2020. The 5 Mile trail race is the 2nd race in the Fall Liberty Mountain Trail Series. The course is run on single track trails and mountain roads along the Liberty Mountain Trail System.
This race is a partnership with the Liberty University Military Affairs department to show all our support to those who serve. In memory of Major Mike Donahue, the event is specifically meant to honor and remember this man who made such a positive impact in the community and at Liberty University.

START TIME | 9 A.M.
PACKET PICKUP | November 13 – LaHaye Rotunda from Noon-6 P.M. | November 14 – Hydaway from 8-8:45 A.M. (before the race)
AWARDS AND T-SHIRT | Featured giveaway t-shirt is guaranteed before Nov 5th registration. Awards will be given to the top 3 male & female overall winners, top 3 male & female in each age group, and top male & female masters overall winners. Door prizes will also be given out at the awards ceremony following the race.
This year, we have added a virtual event to the race! If you are stationed overseas, on patrol or are not here in Lynchburg, we now have an option for you!

Those who would like to participate can register here on RunSignUp and will run their 5miler during the specified dates. Once you run your distance, there will be an opportunity to submit the time that it took you to complete your run.
There will be shirts, right?
Of course! We have to have race swag, and this event will be a little different, just like the race. If you register before October 22nd, your shirt and virtual bib will be mailed to you on October 30th, so you can wear it on your run. If you register after October 22nd, you will still get a shirt but it won't be able to be delivered to you before the event date.
When can I complete my run?
Any time between November 9 and November 15.
Where can I complete my run?
You can run anywhere you’d like! Encourage friends from around the country, even globe, to participate with you in this special military appreciation event.
Our typical Course Map and Elevation profile can be found on our "Maps" page, if you wish to run a comparable 5 miles. Please be responsible and respect all directions by the parks department or other local officials where you choose to run. You are operating as an individual while you complete this run.
What’s this about a Raffle?
Like every Liberty Mountain Trail Series event, we will have raffle prizes up for grabs for the participants. On November 16th, we will be randomly choosing virtual participants to win some great prizes. These will be announced on the Liberty Campus Recreation social media account, so follow and keep an eye on that for the winners. Be sure to tag us when sharing pictures or videos of your runs as we would love to give our followers some additional swag.
