Why Benefit Run/Walk?
We are organizing a day of walk and run to help support an organization called SOVCA. Through our benefit walk and run, we are working alongside their existing projects and fundraising initiatives to help alleviate some of their struggles. Our theme is "Leave your footprint across the globe"
What is SOVCA?
Sacred Orphan Vulnerable Child Association (SOVCA) is a registered community based organization (CBO) located in the rural village of Kabale district in Southwest Uganda. The organization supports the Sacred Nursery and Primary School, a 220-student school founded in 2015 to meet the growing need for quality education for orphaned and vulnerable children (OVC), especially girls and those with HIV or whose parents have HIV/AIDS. 55% of the students are girls, and 40% are OVCs. The school charges very low school fees, so it relies solely on community-based donations and supplemental income through renting gardening space for vegetable farming. It is embedded in the community and has passionate volunteers. The school is currently renting their facility from a catholic church with temporary classrooms constructed to hold classes, with no room for expansion. They are at maximum capacity and in order to accommodate and reach out to more OVCs, their most immediate need is to have their own land and building. About 70% of Ugandans identify cost as the number one reason children drop out of school. SOVCA is currently the only organization in the area that gives OVCs free and safe learning environment and provides proper nourishment while at school. In addition, they are equipping and empowering girls and OVCs against sex trafficking and child labor through education and awareness.

We are asking for you to be a partner in making a difference in the lives of the Ugandan girls, orphaned and vulnerable children, a part in educating the next generation. Our goal is $25,000, which will enable them to purchase land. Any amount you donate goes a long way to helping SOVCA realize their goals.
