Event Description
Join Savannah Rapids Kayak Rental and The Bicycle Peddler for our first annual Pedal, Paddle, & Pant event to benefit the CSRA HUMANE SOCIETY! We are going to start our event at the Augusta Canal Mill Village Trailhead (along the canal at 109 Eve Street) where we will first bike (pedal!) 5 miles up the canal tow path to the Savannah Rapids Park where we will then kayak (paddle!) 5 miles back down the Augusta Canal back to the Mill Village Trailhead! Participants will then run(pant!), or walk or jog :), .5 miles to the CSRA Humane Society and then back for a total of 1 mile to the Mill Village Trailhead along the Canal.
The entry fee is $10 per person, and all entry fees will go directly to The CSRA Human Society. You can rent kayaks for the event through Savannah Rapids Kayak Rental, or bring your own at no cost! Singles will be at the discounted rate of $25 and tandems at the discounted rate of $35; paddleboards for $30. You can rent a bike from The Bicycle Peddler at the discounted rate of $15, or bring your own at no cost; there will be a bike trailer to haul bikes back down to the start point that will be operating on a donation basis (donations go to the shelter)! All entry fees, waivers, and rental charges will be due Friday, September 20th. There will be no refunds of the $10 entry fees, which will go directly to the CSRA Humane Society. Rental charges will only be refunded in the event of inclement weather that hinders the event.
There will be a competitive heat and a non-competitive heat as well as a "relay team" division in both heats! The competitive heat will start at 9am and the non-competitive heat will start at 9:30 am; no tandem kayaks will be allowed for the competitive heat but they will be allowed in the non competitive heat. There will be PRIZES for the top three finishers of the competitive heat, and there will be RAFFLE PRIZES for the non-competitive heat along with anyone else who would like to come out and simply donate to the CSRA Humane Society. Every $10 donated gets you a raffle ticket, however those who participate will receive 5 raffle tickets and can still receive extra raffle tickets for every additional $10 they donate; a bag of dog or cat food donated will also earn a raffle ticket! The non-competitive heat may partake in doing the last stretch (walking or slowly jogging) with an adoptable dog from the shelter! The first 50 participants to sign up and pay the entry fee will receive a GOODIE BAG from Savannah Rapids Kayak Rental and it’s affiliated companies: The Bicycle Peddler and Keg Creek Watersports!
