Event Description

The Sweatin' Burnt Orange Bike Tour, now in its 15th year, is the annual fundraiser for The University of Texas at Austin Cycling Club.  Each year, Texas alumni and club supporters ride through the beautiful hill country around Blanco, Texas.

The event hosts five fully supported route lengths between 11 and 73 miles.  Rest stops and SAG vehicles ensure a safe, comfortable ride through the back country.  At the end of the ride, participants are treated to real Texas BBQ on the square.  One complimentary T-shirt and goodies are included in the registration fee.

Additionally, we're glad to announce a university student discount!  Full registration price for students is $30, and a student ID must be presented at packet pickup.

This event is an incredible Texas riding experience that'll leave you Sweatin' Burnt Orange!

What to Bring

All riders must wear a helmet at all times when on a bike. Please dress to your level of comfort, and bring along any tools/accessories for your specific bike. Two  water bottles, sunglasses, gloves are recommended. If you would like to purchase breakfast or an additional lunch, please bring cash or card.

The Ride

All rides will begin and end from Blanco High School, 1215 4th St, Blanco, TX . There will be signs along each route directing you when to turn, and signs pointing out cattle guards. If you see a cattle guard, don't go too slow, just stay smooth and straight! The forecast is predicting brisk weather Sunday morning around the low 50s and up to the mid 70s as the day progresses. Nevertheless, we all know how unpredictable Texas weather really is. Be sure to dress in layers to give yourself plenty of options!

Aid Stations and Support

On each route (for 26 miles or greater), you will see aid stations that will have fresh fruit, KIND Bars, PB&Js, and water. Stops will have staff and tools to help with minor mechanical issues. Stop by, have a drink, and say hello! If you encounter an issue that leaves you stranded between stops, we have support vehicles that you can call for help. You will be able to find contact information on the back of your cue sheet, so be sure to bring it with you!
