Event Description
The PirateNurse race is an annual, certified 5K that draws runners from across the state. The race got its start in 2013 when the ECU College of Nursing Student Leadership Council brought the event idea to faculty advisors. They planned that the original race proceeds would help fund the ECU College of Nursing General Scholarship Fund and the Linda Pynn Nurse Practitioner Scholarship Fund, both of which provide financial support for nursing student education. The Linda Pynn Fund has since become fully endowed, so the race proceeds now provide much-needed support for the ECU College of Nursing General Scholarship Fund. Those scholarships are awarded to by the College's Scholarship Committee to nursing students and are presented by the dean of the College of Nursing during our annual scholarship ceremony.
Exceeding the expectations of the Student Leadership Council, the PirateNurse 5K has become a popular legacy event for current students. It's also a welcome opportunity for alumni to come back, visit the campus and re-connect. In concert with nursing culture, the charitable aspect of the event is integral to the ideal of service, one of the hallmarks of nursing education at the ECU College of Nursing.

Through March 15:
Individual Registration: $35
ECU Student Registration: $25 (discount taken during online registration process)
March 16-31:
Individual Registration: $45
ECU Student Registration: $35 (discount taken during online registration process)

Medals for winners in all categories - 1st and 2nd Place in each of the following: 12 and under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and up
Gift certificates for PirateNurse Pride Award Winners (2)
** All swag and medals will be shipped.
(**Registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. If the event has to be canceled or postponed, refunds will not be given, but race packets and shirts will be available for pick-up. We will not be able to ship/mail any items.**)
In-kind gifts are also welcome and very much appreciated. You will have the opportunity to add an additional gift amount to your registration fee when registering at the online store.
