Event Description

A sub 2-hour half marathon is within your reach!

This 12-week program meets 3x per week and is specifically aimed for a 1:59:00 or less half marathon. The program kicks off on Saturday, February 1 at 7:00 AM and culminates on April 24th with either the Greenwich Half Marathon or Cheshire Half Marathon.

 

For $119 ($99 for current Ridgefield Bicycle Sport Club members):

  • An exclusive, 12 week training program specifically designed for a 1:59:00 Half Marathon.
  • 3 supported & guided runs per week: Long run, speed work, and tempo. 
  • One "Strength For Athletes" class per week at FitGuana gym during the course of the training program
  • Access to certified coaches
  • Closed group on Facebook for support and encouragement
  • A SUB TWO CREW tech tee

This training program package works out to less than $10 per week, is valued at over $300. Even if you can't make all of the supported runs or workouts, you will have full access to the training plan and can still have success!

 

PREREQUISITES:

In order to be successful with this program, we ask that you must have run a 2:00-2:15 Half Marathon in the past 8 months. The first long run will be 5 miles at 10:00-10:30 pace, and your present level of fitness should allow you to run it at conversational easy pace (not winded). If you are unsure, contact training@ridgefieldrunning.com and we'll help you decide if this program is a good fit.

Schedule:

  • Saturdays at 7:00 AM: Long Runs from Ridgefield Running Company
  • Tuesdays at 5:45 AM: Speed work/track workouts @ Ridgefield High School
  • Wednesdays at 5:30 PM: Strength For Athletes" high-intensity resistance workout at FitGuana on Bailey Avenue
  • Thursdays at 6:00 PM: Tempo runs from Ridgefield Running Company
  • The 4th run of the week will be on your own.
  • EVEN IF YOU CANNOT MAKE ALL OF THE SUPPORTED RUNS (for instance, you can't make the Thursday evening workouts), IT'S STILL A FANTASTIC VALUE and you can still have success with the program!

Note that you are not required to attend all of the runs or Fitguana gym class, but there will be no discounts given if you cannot regularly attend a group run or the FitGuana class.

 

Additional Information:

  • This program expects that you will be able to run 4 runs per week (3 supported, 1 independent), and strength train/cross train once per week. You will get the full plan with detailed explanations once you sign up.
  • Some of the runs will be pre-dawn. You will be required to have a hi-viz vest, light-up vest, or other way to be seen on the roads. A headlamp or a pop of reflectivity on your clothing is not enough.
  • We'll have a fun, supportive (and optional) Facebook group available for you to join once you are in. You can find training partners and post your #proofofrun from your vacation for accountability!
