Event Description

COURSE DESCRIPTION

“John Bryan is the most scenic state park in western Ohio. The 752-acre park contains a remarkable limestone gorge cut by the Little Miami River which is designated as a state and national scenic river. A portion of the gorge itself is designated as a national natural landmark.”

NEW FOR 2020 Tie Dye 50K IS GOING CUPLESS! This means there will be no cups at any aid stations.

An ORRRC collapsible, reusable cup is available to be added to your registration for $3 and the cup will be provided at packet pickup.

Please carry it with you as well as your water bottle. There will be absolutely no cups at aid stations (you will need to use your cup if you want to drink Coke or Ginger Ale, or grab some pretzels to go). If you ran DGLR50 last year, or Broken Toe 50K/25K, you are already familiar with cupless races and can use your ORRRC cup if you already have one.

COURSE MAP

The course will change in 2020 to a 3 loop course traversing through beautiful John Bryan State Park--we will not be using the trails in Glen Helen. This will allow us to better track our runners and to provide our runners with a better distribution of aid stations. Each loop will be approximately 10.5 miles.

AID STATIONS

Fully manned aid stations at miles 5, 10.5, 15.5, 21, and 26. Unmanned water at miles 2.5, 13, and 23.5.

DROP BAGS

You can have drop bags at miles 10.5 and 21

PACKET PICK-UP

Packet pick-up will begin at 6:00 a.m. on race day at the shelter in the campground.  Enter the park and park in the first parking lot on the right after the park office.  The shelter is up against the hill on the left outside of the parking lot.

CUT-OFFS

For the safety of the runners and the comfort of the volunteers, cutoffs will be enforced.  Total completion time is 9 hours or 4:30 p.m.  To complete within 9-hours you must start your third loop by 1:30 p.m. The sweeper will begin sweeping at 2:00 p.m. and you must stay ahead of the sweeper.

EARLY START OPTION

Back again this year! We are allowing an early start option for those concerned about the 9-hour cut off.  Runners, after checking in at packet pick up, can begin their run as early as 6:30 AM for an early start.  Early start runners will only be eligible for a finisher award.

PARKING

John Bryan State Park, Yellow Springs, Ohio.  We will fill the main lot (I will have at least two spots coned for the course). We will also have volunteers helping direct runners to other parking areas.
