COURSE INFO - XTERRA FULL TRIATHLON
1/2 MILE SWIM | 15 MILE MOUNTAIN BIKE | 7 KM TRAIL RUN
SWIM: V-shaped swim course starting on the park's sand beach. Swim out 400m, then a hard left turn. Swim to the grassy shoreline of Orchard Shores picnic area. Water is almost always calm and relatively clean, but there is some algae and seaweed approaching the finish line.
Run up the hill (grass & sidewalk) to Transition Area (TA)
MOUNTAIN BIKE: Ride 1/2 mile in the grass shoulder on the south side of the roadway to the trailhead, begin two laps each 7 miles long. The course has no long hills, and only two or three steep places where a beginner might need to push the bike. Most of the course flows along nicely. After second lap, return to TA via the same south side of roadway grass shoulder.
TRAIL RUN: Run northeastward along trail 1, passing the Nature Center. Shortly after one mile, stay right to enter the lollipop loop part of the course. There are two notable hills named Steamboat Hill (which has steps going up), and Vargo Hill, just after the aid station. At about mile 3, a right turn puts runners back on the outbound trail for two-way traffic. Finish under the DINO archway.
