What is the Healthcare Classic 5K?
The Healthcare Classic 5K Run/Walk was created in 1989 by University of Louisville medical students to promote physical fitness among classmates, healthcare professionals, and citizens of the community. More importantly, all proceeds from this event benefit the Healing Place, which is an indispensable addiction recovery program in Louisville.
What is the Healing Place?
The Healing Place is a highly successful residential addiction recovery program in Louisville, KY. The mission of the Healing Place is “to reach the homeless, offer recovery for the addicted, and help restore productive lives.” All of the Healing Place’s services are free of charge to clients. Because of this reality, the Healing Place relies on donors like you!

Why should I run/walk in the Healthcare Classic?
1. It’s for a wonderful cause! You’re helping people in need by running or walking.
2. It’s a nice and short 5K (3.1 miles) route along a scenic course. Water will be available at the 1.5 mile mark.
3. Snacks, refreshments, music!
4. T-shirts for registered runners and walkers
5. Awards and prizes for the top 3 overall male, female, youth finishers and for the craziest socks!
Event details and schedule
When:
Saturday April 11, 2020
Registration begins at 7:30 am
Race/Walk begins at 9:00 am
After all racers have finished, we will have a testimonial by a resident of the Healing Place and we will give out prizes for the top three finishers in adult men, adult women, youth age groups, and the funkiest socks!
Where:
The Parklands – Beckley Creek Park (next to Egg lawn - Beckley Creek Pkwy, Louisville, KY 40245)
Participants should meet at The PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP Pavillion next to Egg lawn aka Marshall Playground & Sprayground (signs will direct you to this location for registration).
The race will run along the scenic Beckley Creek Parkway.
Parking Info:
Parking is available at Egglawn (aka Marshall Playground & Sprayground) and will be directed by members of The Healing Place. Extra parking is available. Entrance to the park and parking will be via South Beckley Station Rd.
What to wear:
Wear comfortable running clothes and bring layers if it is still chilly. Make sure to wear comfortable running shoes. We encourage runners to wear their craziest socks for the theme: Rock Your Socks!
Check in:
Be sure to find the registration table at the The PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP Pavillion next to Gheens Foundation Lodge. We will check you in and give you your racing bib on the morning of the race.
Theme:
Rock Your Socks! Wear your most crazy/fun socks! Prizes will be available for the craziest socks the day of the race. We also are asking for racers to bring new pairs of socks to donate to The Healing Place on race day. Socks are a much needed item for the residents in recovery.
