Start your 4th of July off by participating or volunteering for the 2020 Yorktown Independence Day 8K & 5K!
If you are looking for something fun to do the morning of 4th of July, come out and participate or volunteer at the annual Yorktown Independence Day 8K & 5K. The York County Historical Museum welcomes runners to a beautiful 8K loop course on the scenic roads and trails of the Yorktown battlefield. Runners and walkers are invited to a 5K event. Both events begin and end near Surrender Field. Race day parking, packet pickup and registration will be conducted at York High School.
Entry Fees
• On or before June 4th - $35
• After June 4th - $40
• Packet Pick-up/Race Day - $45
Register by June 15th to guarantee your race t-shirt!
EARLY PACKET PICKUP - July 3rd 4:00pm-7:00pm at a location to be determined
RACE DAY PACKET PICKUP – York High School
9300 George Washington Memorial Hwy. Yorktown, VA 23692 from 7AM-8AM.
RACE STARTS/COURSES – The 8K starts promptly at 8:00 AM and the 5K starts at 8:10. Both the 8K and 5K start on Historical Tour Road in the Battlefield just past the Hwy 17 overpass. The 8K loops the battlefield and finishes just beyond Surrender Field. The 5K runs out Historical Tour Road, turns around at mid point and finishes back where you started.
AGE GROUPS – Male & Female: under 11, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+
AWARDS – Top 3 overall Male and Female finishers;
Top 3 Male and Female in each age group. Medals will not be mailed, you must be present to receive.
T-SHIRTS – Multi-colored short-sleeved t-shirt ($2.00 extra for XXL) Race t-shirts will be guaranteed for all participants registered before 10 June 2019. Additional shirts will be ordered but sizes and quantities cannot be guaranteed.
*All volunteers can opt to receive a letter documenting their community service hours.
