Event Description

On April 18 the Rockford Area Community Endowment is sponsoring a 5K run/walk on the Rockford Varsity Cross Country Course at East Middle School.  The race/walk will start at 9 am.    The course is completely on the grounds of the middle school, unpaved and does not cross any roads or drives.   Several north Kent fire departments will be running relay teams in fire gear in order to raise pledges for the Great Lakes Burn Camp.  Medals will be awarded in 10 year age groups for males and females as well as overall and master winners.  All entrants will receive a tee shirt.  $2.00 of every entry fee will also go to the Great Lakes Burn Camp.

The Rockford Area Community Foundation (RACE) is an organization representing the townships of Algoma, Cannon, Courtland, Plainfield, the City of Rockford and Rockford Public Schools with the mission of supporting worthwhile non-governmental projects in the service district.  Grants to area residents and organizations from the endowment have help to fund parks, golf disc, eagle scout projects, area first responders, the Rogue River Artists and local monuments and many other worthwhile activities.   RACE also manages the funds of the Krause Library foundation.  For more information about the Rockford Area Community Foundation may do so by visiting our website, www.racerockford.com.
