**Girls Run The World is going VIRTUAL this year.**

Due to Coronavirus (COVID-19), we will be turning the Walk/Run, and Party in the Park into a VIRTUAL EVENT. Our biggest priority is the health and safety of all participants, volunteers, and community. While we look forward to seeing you all in person each year, our virtual house party will still be a fun experience that everyone can participate in while getting a good workout!

How can you participate?

• Register online as a participant
• Grab your 80's gear
• Walk, Run, or Step the distance of a 5K (3.1 Miles or approximately 7,000 steps) between June 6th - June 13th, 2020
• Take a picture of you getting your steps or run in and use the hashtag #GRTW2020 on Facebook or Instagram
• Join us for our 80's House Party in our Facebook group
• No winners or losers....just SUPPORTERS, PARTICIPANTS, AND PARTY PEOPLE.

Tips For 80's Gear! 

• Use this time to get creative. Google 80's themes, reuse old clothing items, and have fun! 
• Ladies, let's see your neon colors, tutus, leggings, leg warmers, off shoulder t-shirts, fanny packs, costume jewelry, big hair, and much more. 
• Guys, show us your windbreakers, tracksuits, sweatbands, chunky sneakers and other 80's trends. 
• In true 80's fashion, end your 5K with a HOUSE PARTY! We want to hear your favorite 80's tunes!

Getting Others Engaged

• Start a FitBit group with friends or family and make this your week challenge!
• Join our Facebook Event Group to share pictures with and join our virtual house party!
• Keep your eye on your email for messages of encouragement from others and updates!

Please take pictures or videos of you participating and share those images to our Facebook Page @GirlsRunTheWorld Aurora and @GirlsRunTheWorldYorkville. You can also email your run times and photos to grtwaurora@gmail.com. We will post pictures during the virtual run dates. 

FIRST TIME HERE?:

• The Girls Run the World 5K serves as a fundraiser that aids in the expansion of the Girls Run The World leadership program that services three high schools in Aurora and Yorkville High School in Yorkville, IL. This event will celebrate the accomplishments of the young women in the program and young ladies all over Aurora and Yorkville, while promoting a healthy lifestyle.  
• This fundraiser allows us to give scholarships to our graduating seniors, take the girls on social and education field trips, and help the young ladies prepare for a successful life after high school.
• We thank you in advance for helping the young women in our community grow and succeed!
