Event Description

Join Hannah’s Heroes of NC for a family friendly Glow Run/Walk- either in person or virtually! This event features a chip-timed, USATF-certified 5K, as well as a family 1mile fun run. Race features include t-shirts (only guaranteed to those signed up by 8/18/2020), overall & age group awards, and post-race snacks (in Washington). Help us raise money to support college scholarships in teaching, kindness service projects, and opportunities for children to explore their interests and grow their confidence, in memory of Hannah Cuthrell. Race Options

Traditional race option on September 12th

For those that would like to race in person, join us in beautiful downtown Washington. We will start and end the race at Haven's Garden on the waterfront. Be sure to dress in your best glow attire and bring your smile. After the race, there will be a selection of goodies to refill your tanks. We'll be sharing some of Hannah’s favorites: Hershey bars, donuts, bananas, and bottled water. 

Here's how to get started with the traditional race:

• Register to run (or walk) one of the Sept 12th race distances. 1mile or 5K (3.1 miles).
• Packet pickup will be available the day before (9/11 6:30pm-8:30pm) at the following locations:
  • Moe's Southwest Grill, 610-B Red Banks Road, Greenville NC, 27858
  • Jersey Mikes Subs, 420 Pamlico Plaza, Washington, NC 27889
• Packet pickup will also be available on the day of the race (9/12 beginning at 6:00pm) at Haven's Garden, Washington, NC.
• T-shirts will be given to registered participants. T-shirts are available to those who register by 8/18/2020. Sizes will be Youth (Small to XL) and Adult (Small to XXL).
• Gather at the Start/Finish Line in Haven's Garden, Washington, NC at your race's time on September 12th. Don't forget to wear your glow attire!
• Awards given to top 3 men & women overall, plus top 1 male and female finisher in each age group (12 & under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+) Family Team awards given to top 2-person teams with one member under 18 and one member over 18. In order to be eligible for family team awards you must register online and complete pre-registration. Family teams cannot register day of race.
• Afterwards, head back down to the Washington waterfront to enjoy live music at the Washington Summer Festival.

Virtual race option:

Join us for a unique way to practice social distancing, stay active while participating virtually to support Hannah’s Heroes! Participants who sign up for a virtual race register online and simply choose their own starting line, whether it's a treadmill or a neighborhood street and which day to race during the race week. They run/walk the race distance and email their finishing time to run the east and a few days later they will receive their swag (items for those participating in the 5K such as t-shirt and promotional materials). It may seem strange to traditional runners, but race organizers say the virtual race is a great option for those who want convenience and safety during the times we are in this year.

Here's how to get started with the virtual race:

• Register to run (or walk) one of the virtual race distances. 1mile or 5K (3.1 miles)
• Choose one day during September 12-19 to run/walk the distance on your own (you choose the course or run on a treadmill) and email your times to james@runtheeast.com to be added to the race results.
• Hannah's Heroes will ship your swag directly to you! T-shirts will be given to registered participants. T-shirts are available to those who register by 8/18/2020. Sizes will be Youth (Small to XL) and Adult (Small to XXL).
