Here is the donation page for this virtual run. This is a personal challenge of mine with a goal of raising $5,000 for the family. There are several groups and organizations stepping up to help so feel free to reach out to those if you would like.You do not have to sign up to make a donation. I do not want this story to die so I will be posting my runs with the #IRunWithMaud to help bring awareness and keep his memory alive.
On July 15th I, (Matthew Hammersmith), will be running 33 miles on my 33rd birthday to help raise money for his family and the battle they have before them. This is a personal endevour and I would love your support.His birthday would have been Friday May 8th. Please find the time to run, hike, walk 2.23 miles in his honor between now and the memorial run on July 15th. I encourage you to run,walk, or hike 2.23 miles in memory of Ahmaud Arbery who was shot and killed while out for a jog on February 23rd.
I have run almost everyday since the age of 15. I have never had the the fear of being cornered, shot at, or murdered. This memorial run will not only help raise awareness of the disparities that still exist in this world but it will help raise funds for the family that he left behind that are currently grieving. There are several opportunities to support the family of Ahmaud Arbery. I will run and dedicate one mile at a time and one lap at a time around a track towards anyone who would like to contribute to this memorial run.
