Event Description

Our usual Father's Day event, the Wayland OneMile Swim and 3 Mile Challenge, is going online this year with a multi-sport challenge to help raise funds to support the Wayland Community Pool.  We will offer 4 different events, each the length of a river in Massachusetts, to keep that local flair! You can choose one or more Rivers to complete in the month of June, but you should be aware that this is a Swim-weighted event so everything will be adjusted to be swim miles (see below for details).

**Your Registration moneys will go directly to help Wayland Community Pool with its operating costs. As a small business, it has been hard hit by the current public health crisis. After the cost of the t-shirt and the small processing fee charged by the online signup company, all profits will go to WCP. If you would like to make an additional donation, please look for the "Donation" button at checkout.  We can not offer refunds, but your donation is going to a great place.

T-shirts will be available for pickup at WCP July 1st (or thereabouts). If you live relatively far away, we will send you your shirt or give it to you when we see you. Maybe at an actual SWIM someday?

NEW!!! DrinkSimple, a local company whose leaders include Wayland's own Kate Weiler, will be providing all participants with limited edition swim caps perfect for open water (when we eventually get there)! Caps will be available to pick up with the shirts.

TIME DOESN'T COUNT- just the miles!! This is all on the Honor System. Many of us do not have access to water, but we do want to keep active. If you want to stick to one activity i.e. WALK the whole River of your choice, please go right ahead and design the challenge however you'd like and keep in touch on social media to let us know how you are "running" the River #WCPJubilee

SCALE:

1 mile swim = 1 mile swim. If you are using a tether system, use your time. If you have access to a pool, 72 lengths = 1 mile. In open water, you can use your watch or GPS to determine a mile.

2 miles walk = 1 mile swim

3 miles run = 1 mile swim

10 miles cycle = 1 mile swim

If you choose another form of exercise, just do your best to compare to the above scale! The idea is that "time under tension" should be equivalent to YOUR mile swim time.

*PLEASE STAY SAFE AND HEALTHY. This event is to enhance your health, not endanger your person. If you are not feeling well, please do not exercise!
