DESCRIPTION
Join the Seashore Striders for one of the most popular races at the beach- The Race for the Ribbon 5k.   The sixth event in the popular Seashore Strider Championship Series, this year's Race for the Ribbon 5k will be held virtually due to the Coronavirus restrictions.   The Race for the Ribbon 5k is normally a flat & fast course through the Country Club development of north Rehoboth Beach, however this year you may complete the Race for the Ribbon 5k anywhere you wish beginning at 12:01 am on July 11th and finishing 48 hrs later on July 12th at midnight.  The race will start and finish anywhere you wish and you will verify your time by sending an email to Race Director Tim at tim@seashorestrider.com   The email should have an attached selfie of yourself as well as a closeup photo of your distance and time.

RACE TIME:  July 11th at 12:01 am until July 12th at midnight

RACE REGISTRATION:

• $30.00 Race Registration Pre & Post     
  • The Seashore Striders will do two mailings for this event with Shirts/bibs 
    • For those out of town folks that are registered by 7/3/20 at 6 p.m. your Shirt will be ordered and shipped to you on July 7th along with your bib number to wear in the race.   If you are local, we will have a drive-by packet pickup at Grove Park on Friday July 10th from 3-5 pm
    • For those out of town folks that register after 7/3/20 at 6 p.m. your shirt will be ordered on 7/13/20 and shipped to you on 7/17/20.  If you are local, we will have a post drive-by packet pick-up on 7/17/20 from 9-11 am at 9 Gander Lane, Lewes, DE
    • RACE NOTE...If you are a runner that uses your out of town address to register, however you have a place at the beach or you are a frequent visitor to the beach, we can arrange a pre or post pick-up of your shirt/award so that we can save $$ on mailing.   Thank You!

   Please fill out the form completely & neatly, double checking Age, Gender, Entry Fee Price (some events have different fees) & Event Choice.

TO BENEFIT:  This year's Race for the Ribbon will benefit local runner, supporter and volunteer LeeAnn Waltz of Milton, Delaware, who has been undergoing treatment for the blood cancer, Myeloma.

SAFE RUNNING & RACING:   The Seashore Striders encourage you to run & race safely during the Race for the Ribbon 5k  and discourage the gathering of runners for this event.   Please stay more than 6' from each other if running with someone.  https://www.runnersworld.com/news/a31439358/running-during-coronavirus/

RACE TIMING: You will use a timing device on your watch (garmin )or iPhone (race tracker) or whatever you are comfortable with and to be verified it must be the complete 5k distance.    I will verify 3.11 miles, however I will NOT verify 2.98 miles.   At the completion of your Race for the Ribbon 5k Virtual Run, please take a selfie of your self with a close-up of your device showing your distance & time.   Results will be sent to tim@seashorestrider.com for official verification and I then will upload the results to Runsignup/athlinks/CT.   Please send "Elapsed Time" not "Moving Time".  Results are due to Race Director Tim by 12 midnight on July 12th.                NO TREADMILLS ALLOWED IN THE SUMMER SERIES EVENTS.

RACE AMENITIES:  Custom printed short sleeve t-shirt, Virtual Finish line produced by “Seashore Strider Event Production, Inc.,” Virtual Post-Race awards ceremony at 8 p.m. on July 13th & A RUNNING GOOD TIME.

AWARDS:  Awards will be presented to the Overall Male & Female Champions, Overall Male & Female Masters (40+ yrs.), as well as the top three (3) Male & Female finishers in the following age categories: 9 & under, 10-13, 14-19, 20-24, then 5-year age groups through 80+.   There will be a Virtual Awards Ceremony on July 13th @ 8 p.m. on Zoom.   All Participants will receive a link to the Awards Ceremony at 3 pm on the 13th.   If you are out of town, your award will be shipped to you.   If you are local I will be placing your award in your mailbox or of course you can pick up from me.

REFUNDS/DEFERRAL:  The Seashore Striders have a "No Refund" policy, however we make every possible attempt to please our client with the following options:  1. Transfer to a future Seashore Strider owned event of equal value before the end of the current year.   2. Donate your entry fee to the charity associated with the event or to the Seashore Strider Youth Running program.  3. Transfer/Defer to the following year at the same event.  Thank You for your cooperation & understanding as some situations are beyond the control of the Seashore Striders.
