Book for Hope will have our 5th Annual Just Imagine® Childhood Cancer Walk at 8:00 AM on Saturday, September 5, 2020, at Bob Noble Park, with permission from the Mayor of Paducah, Kentucky.
We realize some people will not feel comfortable attending the walk in person due to COVID-19, so we are providing an additional option to register for a virtual walk. It's a 4 mile walk this year because children only receive 4% funding from the Federal Government for childhood cancer research. You can walk 4 miles at your leisure and track your time with your iPhone, GPS, Strava App, or any device you have to show that you have walked 4 miles. Stay active on your social media as much as possible to show people you are walking, and there will be a link for you to create a page to post selfies to show yourself walking and your amount donated.
We have also added peer to peer this year. When you register to walk in the 5th Annual Just Imagine® Childhood Cancer Walk, you can invite your family, friends, and co-workers to help you raise money. We have designated a goal of $100.00 per person. We will enable you to sell items like bracelets, painted rocks, slime, or whatever you get permission from Book for Hope to sell in order to help you fundraise. People can donate online to you, or by mailing a check made payable to Book for Hope with your name in the memo. We will start the virtual walk on June 14, 2020, with an end date of August 28, 2020, and there will be four gifts for the top fundraisers. First, you will register yourself for the 5th Annual Just Imagine® Childhood Cancer Walk on https://bookforhope.org then Get ready! Get Set! Go!!
Even though COVID-19 has required us to use additional methods of fundraising, children must still go to the hospital to be treated for cancer. Please help Book for Hope as we lend financial assistance to pay monthly bills for families in Western Kentucky and Southern Illinois. It takes people with a heart for families with a child on cancer treatments to make it through the nightmare they are living.
We know that with the devastating health issues caused by COVID-19 this year, you will want to help Book for Hope continue to provide this financial assistance, as well as donate to childhood cancer research. So, we are allowing you to get your grandparents, cousins, parents, and friends in other states to donate to you when you register to walk this year.
If you attend the childhood cancer walk in person on September 5, 2020, you will be in for a huge celebration! Lunch will be provided by Atmos Energy, and you will also be able to enjoy Dippin' Dots, snow cones, cotton candy, sodas, power drinks, water, face painting, a photo booth and props, a DJ, yoga on the lawn, Zumba, Cornhole games, and a guest speaker.
Most importantly, we will walk 4 miles to represent the 4% funding for childhood cancer research, with childhood cancer survivors leading the way, along with those walking in memory or honor of childhood cancer victims. And don't despair--we will have golf carts to pick you up along the way if you cannot make it back to the pavilion. If 200 people walk this year and each person registered raises $100.00, together, we will raise $20.000.00!
We know our friends in Southern Illinois and Western Kentucky will particularly want to get involved because we help our neighbors in both regions and believe we will gain 400 new donors. We look forward to seeing you there, or in your pictures on social media!
