Event Description

5k(ish) run through the beautiful Deerfly infested wooded dunes of Grand Mere State Park. All Stompers are given a Tred-Not Deerfly Patch to place on their hat (Bring a Hat!!!). The WINNER of the JSDFS is the Stomper who catches the most deerflies. Boom. Yes, anyone can win.

Thematic prizes, good vittles (food), and a great time on some on the prettiest trails around. Bring the family, spend the day on the Lake Michigan beaches!

The Jack Settles Deerfly Stomp is named after my dad, Jack, who died from Alzheimer’s disease in 2013. ALL proceeds of the JSDFS go to the Alzheimer’s Association.

This is an untimed event...unless you time it yourself. Remember, anyone can win!

The 985 acre Grand Mere State Park is characterized by magnificent sand dunes, deep blowouts and one mile of Lake Michigan shoreline. Three inland lakes lie behind the dunes in the undeveloped natural area.

PS 2020 is different, yes? So there are no shirts this year. Registration is $10. I’m hoping to have buffs / neck gaiters available (limited quantity).
