Event Description

For the past 46 years, an annual footrace is held in honor of the late U.S. Hopi Olympian, Louis Tewanima, who won a Silver medal in the 10,000-meter race at the 1912 Olympics in Stockholm, Sweden. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we are unable to host this year's race event in the Hopi village of Shungopavi so we bring to you a Virtual Race Experience!

What is a Virtual Race experience? A virtual race is a race that can be run (or walked) from any location you choose. You can run, jog, or walk on the road, on the trail, on the treadmill, at the gym, or on the track (or even at another race). You get to run your own race, at your own pace, and time it yourself. Once you register, we will mail you a race shirt via snail mail.

We wish to not have a canceled event due to COVID-19 so here we are. As much as we want you on our trails we cannot risk our people of Shungopavi. The memory and honor of Louis Tewanima will live virtually this year and we hope to have you back on the amazing trails in 2021!
