“A Different Kind of Donation” this year

Our mission through this organization is to not only preserve the memory of Andrew C. Izzo with a yearly scholarship, but to also bring suicide awareness programs to the community to help better understand, prevent, and destigmatize suicide.

We invite you to participate in the Andrew Izzo Memorial 5k Run/Walk. Due to the complications of COVID 19, social distancing and the many issues happening in the world today, we are holding a virtual event and asking for “A Different Kind of Donation”. 

5K Event:  Perform your version of a 5K this year - in your community, on the course of your choice, with whoever you are comfortable with while keeping in mind the importance of taking care of each other, talking about sensitive issues, letting people know they are not alone and ultimately bringing suicide awareness out of the shadows. Once you complete your 5k please take a screen shot and email your results to the email listed below.

Cost: “A Different Kind of Donation” – Perform an “Act of Kindness” as payment to participate in the event. We are aware that many people are struggling due to job losses, reduced income and increased expenses. We are asking that instead of spending your money, you perform an Act of Kindness for someone who needs it in a thoughtful and caring way. Examples: help an elderly or sick neighbor who needs help around the house or yard; go for that normal walk you take but bring a bag and pick up some trash; send a card or care package to a military member; have coffee with a friend who is struggling with a problem; volunteer at a local food pantry…It might mean stepping out of your comfort zone but the rewards are absolutely worth it. There are so many creative ways to be nice, choose one and go with it. 

When you participate, post to our Facebook site and let us know what you did and how it worked out. 

If you feel you want to, monetary donations are always welcome through the website listed below. For a $25 donation, you get a free T-shirt 

When: September 18- Oct 1, 2020 (that’s 2 weeks!); September is Suicide Awareness Month so choose a time that works for you, sign-up and participate.
