Join the second annual Run for Liberty! The Run for Liberty is a 5K & 1 Mile fun run in support of The Friends of Liberty State Park (FOLSP), which is an all-volunteer non-profit 501(c) (3) grassroots stewardship organization founded in 1988. FOLSP is dedicated to supporting Liberty State Park; an inspiring recreational open space, natural and historic public resource behind Lady Liberty and Ellis Island. So please join us on June 20th! Runners, walkers, and spectators welcome!
What we are supporting:
Our mission is to preserve, protect, conserve and promote Liberty State Park. All proceeds from this race will go toward improving Liberty State Park by funding the parks gardens, adding to the 940 trees we've already funded, and supporting additional amenities, volunteer activities, and park programs.
The Friends of LSP have been advocating for the LSP Protection Act after four decades of overwhelmingly unpopular privatization and commercialization plans. Please sign our Petition at CLICK HERE to support the Liberty State Park Protection Act, threatened by the Liberty National Golf Course plan to privatize and destroy LSP's Caven Point natural area wildlife habitat and environmental education resource. The Course:
The course is USATF sanctioned. It will start and finish on the south end of the Liberty State Park waterfront. Runners will enjoy inspiring vistas of Lady Liberty, Ellis Island, the Manhattan skyline, and New York harbor!
Directions
Race check-in tables will be at the "Flag Plaza" just past LSP's park office/visitors center. The official address is 200 Morris Pesin Dr. - at the eastern end of the Drive. However GPS sometimes directs you to the traffic circle Diner instead of the park office. Please continue (east) along Morris Pesin Drive toward our assigned FREE parking lot.
