Event Description

** The 9th Annual Tour de Castroville is rescheduled for SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 19) **

The Tour de Castroville Walk/Run/Ride is a family event held annually at the Castroville Regional Park located fifteen miles west of San Antonio. The 5K and 10K Walk and Run routes take participants through historical Castroville, founded by Henri Castro in 1844. 

Known as "The Little Alsace of Texas", Castroville has maintained its Alsatian heritage while assimilating the flair of the American rural west. The 30 and 60 mile bicycle routes run throughout picturesque Medina County on low traffic roads connecting Castroville to neighboring LaCoste and in western Bexar County.

Registration proceeds benefit Parks and Recreation and the beatification of Castroville.

Event details and schedule

60 miles cycling- $50 (individual)/ $45 (group)

30 miles cycling- $40 (individual)/ $35 (group)

10K run/ walk- $30 (individual)/ $25 (group)

5K run/ walk- $25 (individual)/ $20 (group)

All events are supported by fully provisioned rest stops and the cycle routes are manned with trained bicycle technicians. Safety is #1 and is enhanced by on-site emergency medical services, police and HAM radio mobile escorts. Directions for each route are meticulously marked.

All Registrants on Active.com will receive an event t-shirt and breakfast. Registrants for the 60 mile and 30 mile cycling will also receive lunch.

Wounded veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts may register at no cost. 

This year ALL participants will receive medals at the finish line! This is not a chip timed event.

IN CASE OF BAD WEATHER - THERE WILL BE NO MAKE-UP DATE.

Packet pick-up will be on event day at the Event Tent at the Castroville Regional Park beginning at 7:00AM.

Bicycle events begin at 7:45am and the Walk/Run events begin at 8:45am.

Breakfast will be available from 7:00 am to 11am; lunch from 11am to 2pm.

 

Participation for the event will be limited to 200 individuals (100 runners, 100 cyclists). There will be no day of registration. A virtual option was added with unlimited participants and includes a shirt and medal.

** The following COVID-19 guidelines will be enforced;

 

The race will be conducted in as safe a manner as possible meaning limited crowds before and after the event.

 

Observe social distancing guide lines (6 ft) before and after the event. Participants must wear face coverings over nose and mouth if the 6’ guideline cannot be maintained – not including during the actual race.

 

Masks are not required by participants while running/ walking/ cycling.

 

Please observe social distancing while running/ passing another participant.

 

Race start will be staggered in small groups.

 

Participants must be healthy with no symptoms of COVID-19 and have had no contact with an individual positive for COVID-19 within the previous 10 days.

 

Individual water bottles will be available after the event and at stops along the route. Hand sanitizer and hand washing stations will be provided.

 

Please be respectful of participants and race volunteers. We want this to be a fun and successful event for all but we need to adhere to guidelines to continue to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
