Event Description

Walk, run, skip, hop or jump a virtual 5k, 10k, 17.6 miles or a historic 177.6 miles to commemorate the Peace Conference that took place at Staten Island's Conference House on September 11, 1776.

You complete the challenge at your own pace, on your own schedule, and anywhere your feet can take you! You can choose to break the distance into smaller segments (e.g., you can complete ~3 miles everyday to complete the 177.6 challenge by October 31.) 

All participants will receive an awesome Conference House logo cooling sweatband and one free admission to the CH when the house reopens!

The historic Conference House opened as a museum in 1927 and is preserved and maintained by the Conference House Association. The museum is currently closed due to COVID-19. While our customary events cannot take place during this crisis, our work is not finished. In an effort to provide online educational programming to the public and student groups, as well as to ensure preservation and maintenance projects continue, we are inviting the community to participate in the Historic 1776 Challenge during the months of September and October 2020.
