Event Description
Join Wyoming Seminary for our inaugural The Sem Fund Virtual 5K! All proceeds from this 5K benefit the Wyoming Seminary Sem Fund, which directly supports our students and faculty. You may complete this event in your favorite location between September 19th at 12:00AM and September 20th at 11:59PM. You will verify your time by sending an email to Director of Alumni Programs, Liz Clements Katyl '05, at ekatyl@wyomingseminary.org with an attached selfie and a close up of your distance and time.
RACE TIME: Complete your 5k anytime from September 19th at 12:00AM until September 20 at 11:59PM
RACE REGISTRATION: Register on this website by Friday, September 11, 2020. $10 for participants ages 1 - 19 and $20 for participants ages 20 and up, plus processing fees.
RACE COURSE: You may complete the The Sem Fund Virtual 5K anywhere you would like! Please be aware that no official course will be set-up by Wyoming Seminary nor will there be any assistance as far as water stops, directional signs, mile markers, race clocks, or emergency assistance. NO TREADMILLS ALLOWED FOR THIS EVENT.
SAFE RUNNING/WALKING & RACING: Wyoming Seminary encourages you to run & walk safely during the The Sem Fund Virtual 5K and discourages the gathering of participants for this event. https://www.runnersworld.com/news/a31439358/running-during-coronavirus/.
RACE TIMING: Proof of your race results totaling 3.1 miles must be in the form of a screenshot of GPS data used from running apps such as Garmin, Strava, MapMyRun, etc. At the completion of The Sem Fund Virtual 5K run or walk, please take a selfie showing your race bib with a close-up of your device showing your distance & time. Results can be sent to ekatyl@wyomingseminary.org for official verification and results.
RACE AMENITIES: The official Sem Fund Virtual 5K race bib will be available for local participants to pick-up at the Upper School the week of the race (more details to follow). Race bibs will be mailed to non-local participants and by request.
AWARDS: Prizes will be awarded to overall Male and Female runners and 1st place with best overall times in the following age categories:
13 & Under
14-19
20-35
36-50
51-65
66 & Up
Prizes will be awarded for first place overall Male and Female walkers.
We also want all of our participants to have some fun! Prizes will be awarded by a committee of judges to runners/walkers in the following categories:
- Most Sem Spirit (Paint your face blue, wear all of your Sem gear, get creative!)
- Most Creative Course Map
- Earliest Race Start (Note: the earliest start time would be 12:00AM on Saturday, September 19)
- Latest Race Start (Note: the race must be completed by 11:59PM on Sunday, September 20)
- Most Creative Race Selfie
- Cutest Pet Race Partner
