Event Description

The Candy Corn 5K is an annual fundraising event for Family Support Network™ of Southern Piedmont, a tax-deductible nonprofit agency serving families of children born prematurely or with other special healthcare needs or disabilities.   Runners, Walkers, and Rollers are all welcome to join in on our very first virtual fundraising event!

How does this virtual 5k work?  You choose where and when you want to run between the dates of Saturday, October 10th through Sunday, October 18th.    Participants will be on the honor system by keeping their own time.  Please report your time to ccranford@fsnsp.org no later than 10:00 a.m. on 10/19/20.  Winners will be announced on the Candy Corn 5k Facebook page. First, second, and third place medals will be awarded for each age category, plus overall male and female.  Medals will be mailed after all times are received.

Participants must register by Sunday, September 27th in order to guarantee a t-shirt.  Runners will be responsible for picking up their t-shirt between 8:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. on our kick-off date of Saturday, Oct. 10th at Frank Liske Park.  In order to stay safe during covid-19, we will have a drive-by t-shirt pick up so you can remain in your car.   You may decide to run at the beautiful and spacious park while you are there.

$25 for ages 13 years old and up

Finding out your child has a special healthcare need or disability can be stressful and overwhelming for most families.  We help families find resources they need to become more confident in raising their child with special needs. Last year, we served over 800 families by providing information, referrals, system's navigation, one-to-one parent support in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, support groups for parents and siblings, parent to parent matching, training and workshops, Triple P (Positive Parenting Program), Powerful Tools for Caregiver sessions, and social events for children with special needs such as Cookies with Santa and the Summer Splash Celebration.
