Event Description

In response to COVID-19, the Rehoboth Beach Fire Company has modified our annual 5K in partnership with Tim Bamforth of the Seashore Striders. To continue to practice social distancing and safety measures we are holding our 6th annual 5K as a virtual 5k. It’s important to our company that we all stay safe, stay healthy and stay connected. Through Seashore Striders virtual 5K we can do all of those!

DESCRIPTION
Join the Seashore Striders virtually in Rehoboth Beach for the 6th annual Rehoboth Fire Company Fire Fightin' 5k.   The 6th event will be held virtually due to the Coronavirus restrictions.   The Fire Fightin' 5k is normally a flat & fast course through the Town of Rehoboth, however this year you may complete the 6th Fire Fightin'  5k anywhere you wish beginning at 12:01 am on August 28th and finishing 96 hrs later on August 31st at midnight.  The race will start and finish anywhere you wish and you will verify your time by sending an email to Race Director Tim at tim@seashorestrider.com   The email should have an attached selfie of yourself as well as a closeup photo of your distance and time from your tracking device.

RACE TIME:  August 28th at 12:01 am until August 31st at midnight

                                                                                           

RACE REGISTRATION:

  • $30.00 Race Registration Pre & Post     
    • The Seashore Striders will do one mailing for this event with your swag- a custom printed mask/bandana...Bibs will be printed online
      • If you are local, we will have a drive-by packet pickup at the Rehoboth Fire Company on Rehoboth Avenue on Thursday, August 27th from 5-7 pm
      • For those folks that register after 8/24/20 at 6 p.m. your swag will be ordered on the Monday following the event and mailed or we will arrange for a pick-up.
      • RACE NOTE...If you are a runner that uses your out of town address to register, however you have a place at the beach or you are a frequent visitor to the beach, we can arrange a pre or post pick-up of your mask/bandana so that we can save $$ on mailing.   Thank You!

    Please fill out the form completely & neatly, double checking Age, Gender, Entry Fee Price (some events have different fees) & Event Choice.

RACE TIMING: You will use a timing device on your watch (garmin )or iPhone (race tracker) or whatever you are comfortable with and to be verified it must be the complete 5k distance.    I will verify 3.11 miles, however I will NOT verify 2.97 miles.   At the completion of your Virtual Run, please take a selfie of your self with a close-up of your device showing your distance & time.   Results will be sent to tim@seashorestrider.com for official verification and I then will upload the results to Runsignup/athlinks/CT.   "Moving Time" will not count- Please send "Elapsed Time".  Results are due to Race Director Tim by 12 midnight on Aug 31st.   YOU MAY COMPLETE THIS EVENT INSIDE ON A TREADMILL OR OUTSIDE.    NEED A TREADMILL FOR THE RACE?  RISE Fitness + Adventure is discounting their day pass for all participants to $10.00.  They are open 7am. - 5pm. and social distancing rules are implemented.  Masks must be worn while in the building - as soon as you are on a treadmill you can remove your mask - you must keep 1 cardio piece of equipment between you and anyone not in your household.

 

RACE AMENITIES:  Virtual Finish line produced by “Seashore Strider Event Production, Inc.,” Virtual Post-Race awards ceremony at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 1st  & A RUNNING GOOD TIME.

 

AWARDS:  Awards will be presented to the Overall Male & Female Champions, Overall Male & Female Masters (40+ yrs.), as well as the top three (3) Male & Female finishers in the following age categories: 9 & under, 10-13, 14-19, 20-24, then 5-year age groups through 80+.   There will be a Virtual Awards Ceremony on Aug 4th @ 8 p.m. on Zoom.   All Participants will receive a link to the Awards Ceremony at 3 pm on the 4th.   If you are out of town, your award will be shipped to you.   If you are local I will be placing your award in your mailbox or of course you can pick up from me.

REFUNDS/DEFERRAL:  The Seashore Striders have a "No Refund" policy, however we make every possible attempt to please our client with the following options:  1. Transfer to a future Seashore Strider owned event of equal value before the end of the current year.   2. Donate your entry fee to the charity associated with the event or to the Seashore Strider Youth Running program.  3. Transfer/Defer to the following year at the same event.  Thank You for your cooperation & understanding as some situations are beyond the control of the Seashore Striders.
