Event Description

The Giro del Vino III is a road bike ride event that takes place in Atlantic County, NJ, where you will ride on lightly travel flat roads with lots of straighaways. It starts from the absolutely stunning White Horse Winery, home of New Jersey's premier destination for delicious Old World Dry Wines. There will be various mileage options to choose from, including family friendly 15 miles, to a more experience 30 and 50 miles. The ride routes are marked, and the ride will be fully SAG supported. The event will also have a unique fully stocked planned rest stop at Belleview Winery, Buena, NJ. The cost of the event also includes a post ride celebration at White Horse Winery where you will be treated to a  glass of wine and a free souvenir glass. Due to the nature of COVID 19 tastings at this this time will be outside only. It's highly recommended that you bring a chair. Participants will also have the option of purchasing a luncheon from a local food truck and there will be live entertainment. FACE MASK COVERINGS ARE REQUIRED UNLESS SEATED AT YOUR TABLE.

Participants who register early will receive a complimetary long sleeve t-shirt.

Proceeds from the ride will benefit the Unexpected Wildlife Refuge, Buena, NJ. Unexpected Wildlife Refuge is a protected natural habitat comprising 767 acres of pristine pine lands, forest, fields, bogs, streams and lakes. It provides living opportunities for hundreds of species of amphibians, birds, insects, mammals, reptiles and other animals, and plants. Some are considered biologically threatened (Pine Barrens tree frog), endangered (red-bellied turtle) or scarce (southern twayblade orchid and the wild lupine, the latter which is the only known host plant for the nationally endangered butterfly, the Karner blue). From its inception, the Refuge has remained undeveloped and wild, with the exception of miles of nominally maintained and minimally intrusive trails. These trails provide an avenue for public outreach and education as well as protecting the Refuge's borders. Hunting, fishing, trapping and other consumptive exploitation have always been prohibited. Peaceful coexistence with wildlife is a key part of wildlife and habitat protection and the Refuge extends its influence beyond its borders to help the public achieve this. Although their operating budget is small, the Refuge largest financial need currently is to finish paying for our new headquarters building. As well as being the Refuge office, the new building will also be providing guidance to Refuge visitors. The refuge needs an additional $83,000 to secure completion.
