Event Description

Two years ago, Marshall Industries started the Sound of Hope 5K for suicide prevention. All proceeds from the race have gone to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Over the last two years, we’ve raised almost $10,500 and we don’t want to stop. Because this is such an important cause, even with all the uncertainty around us, we will still hold the event this year but with a change. This year, we’re having a virtual 5K. We don’t want to put anyone at risk by meeting together in a large group, but we do want to see you and hear your stories because we’re stronger together, even remotely.

Registration is open now and will remain open until Saturday, September 26. All who register to participate will be shipped an event packet that will include a race shirt, medal, mask, hand sanitizer, and water bottle, along with a note with instructions on sharing your experience. Once you get your packet, we ask you to choose a course and run or walk it with your loved ones. (A map of our regular course will be provided to those who wish to go there. Or, you might choose to take a few laps around the neighborhood or community. Strava is a great free app for tracking your run.) Whatever course you choose, we’d love for you to share photos or video with us on social media using #SoundOfHope or posting to our Sound of Hope 5K pages. We’ll be compiling a video to share everyone’s experience with the event.

If you’ve joined us in the past, thank you! We hope you’ll join us again this year. If you haven’t, we invite you to be part of this cause with us.
