Event Description

Listed as one of the 30 Best Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trots in America, the Charlotte Turkey Trot has been a local family tradition for the past 31 years.

Starting and finishing at the SouthPark Mall, the largest road race (9,000+ total participants) in North Carolina is a homecoming destination for extended families, old classmates, and a place to meet and celebrate with neighbors. The community comes together to kick-off the holiday season with a healthy morning run/walk before heading home to celebrate Thanksgiving with food and family.

Race founders Danny and Lesa White cultivated the family and community atmosphere of the Charlotte Turkey Trot for 31 years and are responsible for building a great local tradition. This year the event has transitioned to a new local ownership team that is excited to build on their efforts, elevate the event experience and continue to make Turkey Trot a “must-do” occasion on the Charlotte holiday event calendar!

Without question, COVID-19 has challenged our community and nation. With an abundance of caution, we are not going to gather at SouthPark Mall this Thanksgiving. However, we will keep the tradition of a healthy run and walk on Thanksgiving morning going with a pandemic flair –  2020 will be a virtual Turkey Trot.

We are asking you to participate by registering and getting out on Thanksgiving Day morning to celebrate with a family walk, run or trot… whatever you’re in the mood for! Let’s still take time to celebrate family and this great Charlotte tradition.

With your registration fee of $25, you will get the iconic long-sleeve 2020 Turkey Trot event t-shirt, an official bib, and a finishers’ medallion to keep your collection growing!

In the spirit of the holiday, and on behalf of our 9,000 runners, we are starting a new tradition this year. We are partnering with Charlotte-based Samaritan’s Feet to provide shoes for underprivileged children in the region.  Every corporate partner involved with the event is donating with the goal of providing 500 pairs of shoes.

So, do not miss out! Register now to reserve your shirt and medallion while supplies last. Help us continue this great Charlotte tradition in 2020!
