Event Description
Thanksgiving tradition is offered on a limited basis this year due tp Covid-19 restrictions. We regret there is no mile race this year. There are two options for the 10K Turkey Trot held on Nov 26th:
**A 10K at Dismal Swamp Canal Trail Park in Chesapeake limited to 220 participants (approx 10% of our normal field) with one wave at 8.00am and another at 9.15 on Thursday, November 26th - Thanksgiving Day. Those assigned (based on predicted times) to the 8:00 am are committing to finish the 6.2 mile race in an hour or less as the course and finish line will close at 9.00 as we set up for the 9.15 wave. The 9.15 wave will have an hour and a half to complete the race.
**A Virtual 10K Turkey Trot run on your own between Sunday, November 22nd through Thursday November 26th 6 PM.
RACE DETAILS
Due to Covid -19 restrictions there will be Temperature Checks and Covid-19 waivers to be signed upon arrival!
We will be having time slots and running waves to control social distancing ! We will let you know details as we get closer to race!
COURSE: This is a 3.1 -mile out and 3.1 -mile back course on the closed 2-lane roadway at the Dismal Swamp Trail Park in Chesapeake.
FLUIDS AND FOOD: There will be one aid station with water. Aid station location will be at approx. four miles.
AMENITIES & POST-RACE: T-Shirts will be provided. Onsite hospitality & refreshments.
TIME LIMITS: The race starts at 8:00 AM and 9.15-- we will have a wave start ! PARTICIPANTS ARE REQUIRED TO START IN SOCIALLY DISTANCED GROUPS; finish line will close at 9.00 for the 8.00 wave and at 10.45 for the 9.15 wave. Walkers may arrange an early start or self-time.
AWARDS: Top 3 overall Male and Female and top 3 male and female in 10 year age groups will receive awards! T
REGISTRATION: Registration will be open until Wednesday November 25th 2020 or earlier if the race capacities have been reached. A youth discount rate is applied at checkout (21 and under). There is a NO SHIRT OPTION when signing with a $3.00 savings. NO race day Registration .
GOLDEN RUNNERS: Automatically applied at checkout thru October 15th. GR discount not available after October 15th.
CLUB MEMBERSHIP DISCOUNTS: A Club membership discount of $5.00 is available up thru November 25th. Discounts are automatically applied on the payment page during registration. You should use the account you used to register for the club to apply for this discount. We will also attempt to match on name/date of birth.
