As you most likely know, in normal years (when there’s not a pandemic) we have our 
Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot in North Wales.
We close down the US 202 Parkway for over 2000 runners!
But this year we had to get creative…
and that’s exactly what WE DID!

Introducing a BRAND NEW TURKEY TROT where YOU GET TO CHOOSE 
your start time as well as what type of course you’d like to run!

Early Turkey start is 7:45 am! 
Late Turkey start is 9:45 am!

(This is a hilly 5k, one 8% 1/2 mile long hill)

Mild Turkey 5k!
(This is a relatively flat 5k)

💥VERY IMPORTANT & TIME SENSITIVE NOTE ABOUT REGISTRATION💥

For safety reasons as park & state guidelines, we are limiting each 5k to ONLY 100 RUNNERS! This means that once 100 runners has been reached, the event will CLOSE and we simply cannot accept any new registrations. 
Seeing that we usually get over 2000 runners for our turkey trot, we strongly suggest that you register as soon as registration opens on 
💥October 17th at 8:00 am!💥

Suggested arrival 7:00-7:15

BOTH Wild Turkey 5k & Mild Turkey 5k’s will start at 7:45
Starts will be a staggered time trail start at two different start/finish lines (in sight of each other). 
DEPARTURE TIME 8:45…(we kindly ask that you please leave the venue by 8:45 to make room for the LATE TURKEY’S🦃😄)
 
LATE TURKEY START 9:30 AM!
Suggested arrival 9:00-9:15

When: Wednesday, November 25th from 2:30-4:30 pm
Where: Sailor’s Point, Peace Valley Park (race start/finish)
You will simply follow the signs down towards the lake, a Scoogie Events CREW member then comes to your window, asks for the name of the packets you’re picking up and you’ll be on your way.

This will exponentially decrease race day lines which will help comply with COVID guidelines!

THIS NEEDS TO BE STATED AGAIN: 
PACKET PICK-UP IS VERY STRONGLY ENCOURAGED!
MANY OF OUR DEVOTED CREW MEMBERS & VOLUNTEERS ALSO RUN THESE EVENTS AND THEY NEED TIME TO PREPARE AS WELL!
PLEASE THINK OF THEM AND TRY VERY HARD TO COME TO PACKET PICK-UP THE DAY BEFORE (11/25)!


Plus, if you pick up your packets at packet pick-up, you don’t have to arrive so early on race morning. 
PPU is NOT mandatory but again, STRONGLY encouraged. 
You CAN pick up your friend’s packets (You must know their FULL name & DOB)

Both 5k’s WILL BE TIMED & AWARDS will be given out!
But, this year there will be no awards ceremony. 
Winners will collect their awards and if desired can stand on the podiums, individually, for photos😊

😀 STAGGERED START & INSTANT RESULTS: 
This event will be chip timed with the chips embedded in the special edition BCTT vanity race bibs. 
We will have everyone lined up (socially distanced, with masks ON), you choose when you want to start! No pressure! There will be timing mats at the start line, therefore your time starts once you cross the start line. So no need to rush to get to the start. The start will begin at 7:45 or 9:45 with runners starting in 5 second intervals.

You CAN take your mask off when you run (please carry it with you while running)

Your results will be EMAILED &/OR TEXTED upon crossing the finish line!

We take YOUR SAFETY VERY SERIOUSLY!

NO DOGS ALLOWED FOR ANY OF THE 4 5K'S PLEASE (IT'S TOO NARROW TO ALLOW DOGS FOR THIS RUN)

You all know how hard that is for us...WE LOVE DOGS!! (hence our logo🐶)
    
COVID PROTOCOLS for the BCTT:

~Packet Pick-up (Wed. Nov. 25th) will be “drive-up style”. You will not need to get out of your car!
~Each 5k is limited to ONLY 100 runners! (only runners can come on race day, no spectators please)
~We will practice strict social distancing during the entire event.
~Everyone entering the venue will be required to get their temperature checked (non-contact, one second infrared thermometer)

~Masks MUST be worn at all times (except while running)
~There will be no water stations for either the Wild or Mild 5k run courses. Please plan accordingly. 
~Hand sanitizing stations will be situated throughout the race venue.
~And YES, you can be assured that the POSITIVE VIBES you’ve come to expect will be ever present at this event as well! We all need them more than ever!😊
 
WHY ARE WE ORGANIZING THIS EVENT: 

Because 2020 has been a very difficult year for so many of us and even though we are limited to such a small number of runners and it’s five times the amount of work to make this event happen, we feel that we need to give HOPE and spread some needed POSITIVITY to our faithful runners. 
And that’s EXACTLY what we plan on doing on November 26, 2020! 

Additionally, we LOVE Peace Valley Park and want to give back to them! 
They are this year’s race beneficiary and they will receive 100% of the donations generated from this event!

"Multi person/family discount means that you get $10 off the total registration fees when signing up 3 or more runners for the any of the runs besides the kid's run or walk". The "Multi person/family discount" will be automatically taken off once three runners are registered when registering them all at the same time!

AWARDS: 
Overall TOP THREE winners (male & female), plus top three males & females in each age category: 
NEW AGE GROUP 14 & under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 60-69, 70 & over. No mailing of awards or shirts. 
Again, no mailing of awards or shirts. You MUST pick up your award before you leave.  If you do not, we cannot hold/store awards and it will likely be given to a race day entry or someone else. It is simply too much to hold/store & inventory the awards. 
Note: If you are registered for this race and you registered in time to choose a tech shirt BUT you are unable to run for whatever reason, you will NEED TO CONTACT us BEFORE RACE DAY and let us know if you'd like us to hold on to your reserved shirt for you to pick up at a future Scoogie Event. If you do not do this, we cannot hold your shirt and it will be given to someone that registered after the deadline. We cannot mail shirts!
Packet Pick details will be emailed 10 days before this event.
Runners may pick up their packets on race morning starting at 6:30, but it is advised that they pick them up at packet pick up the day before to avoid lines on race day.
PARKING ON RACE DAY: PARKING ON RACE DAY WILL BE AT SAILOR’S POINT @ PEACE VALLEY PARK. (specific parking details will be emailed 10 days before the event)
If you have any questions, please feel free to email to good folks at Scoogie Events and they will respond promptly. 

IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING WEATHER: 
This event is a rain/shine event. 
This means that if it rains (and as long as the temperature isn’t low enough to freeze any surfaces), this event IS A GO…even in the rain….”skin is waterproof😀” 
In the event that we experience bad weather such as snow or ice or any weather that would cause the course to be unsafe, we will cancel the event. 
There will be no refunds due to the fact that at this point all of the expenses for a race of this magnitude have been paid for. 
Should the COVID situation get worse and therefor we have to postpone this event, we will do so and transfer all registrations to a NEW DATE once it’s safe. Again, no refunds will be issued.

It’s important to understand that IF we need to cancel this event due to extreme weather, we will not issue any refunds and we will not reschedule the event this year.
NOTE: We do not issue any refunds, transfers or credits for any reason. We have the right to revise or cancel the race due to emergency or weather issue....(but we really hope this doesn't happen:-)
