Event Description

The Big Chill is a charitable event that has served the Rutgers University-New Brunswick, NJ community since 2003. To keep the spirit of the community and togetherness alive, we will be offering a virtual 5k, which will support two charities. The first is Winter Wishes, an annual holiday-themed event that provides over 400 New Brunswick pre-school children with gifts for the holiday season. The second is the Rutgers Food Security Fund (Rutgers-- New Brunswick Student Food Pantry), which provides food weekly to Rutgers students experiencing food insecurities.

The Big Chill 5K will take place on December 12, 2020. Participants will have the opportunity to run or walk a 5K at a location of their choice between Saturday, December 12 - Sunday, December 20 and submit their 5K times. All participants will receive a Rutgers winter hat included in the registration fee of $20 which will be mailed to your address. All participants will have the opportunity to purchase additional Rutgers clothing, including an exclusive Big Chill long-sleeve t-shirt, through our Big Chill fundraiser store. Proceeds from this store will also support our two charities.

The Big Chill has been a staple within the Rutgers University-New Brunswick Community for almost 20 years and enjoyed by thousands of runners each year. Our goal is to keep the Big Chill tradition alive, despite the current times, give back to the community and keep participants motivated and healthy. Please join us once again in our annual event.
