Event Description

In July we completed the purchase of the South Boardman Elementary School property and have begun repurposing it with a new purpose: Belay My Last Barracks – transitional housing for veterans and a place for many to create a new beginning.

As a community we can realize this mission and fill a gap of support for the veterans not only in our area, but those moving to the area. Transitioning may be from military life to civilian, from renting to homeownership, from student life in college dorms to finding an apartment. Any given scenario where one may be faced with homelessness for a period of time

We plan to create a place for veterans and their families to land. A place of community and resources to help them through a time of transition that for some can be very confusing and stressful.

Currently we are working on some basics of the building in order for us to be able to start having volunteers come together, be able to open the building up for use in the community, and begin the planning stages of what will happen next.

It takes many hands and it is our hope to build this mission with community members and together give back to and support our veterans.
