Event Description

The Inky Lunta 75 Challenge - Powered by G.E. is an event honoring Ironwood's very own sports legend, beloved coach, and pioneer fitness leader, Gary Engstrom. In true Gary fashion we've increased the challenge to 75, as Gary would be turning 75 this year.

Gary was primarily renowned as a runner and founder of the Easy Striders, but his athleticism and sisu covered the gamut of silent sports from ski-jumping, hockey, cycling, xc-skiing, to any crazy new challenge that came his way. Predictably, Inky was the first finisher of the 2020 Mt. Zion 365.

Gary’s contributions went far beyond his own formidable achievements as he shared his enthusiasm and skills through coaching and training countless others of all ages and abilities. Elite solo athlete, member of an organized team, or couch potato wannabe—Inky had a way of calling forth the best in everyone who came under his spell: “Let’s do this—it’ll be fun!”

To continue Inky’ (Gary's) legacy and honor his all-too-short life of 74 years, we offer the “Inky Lunta 75 Challenge”:

Starting March 1st, over 75 days, walk/run/roll/ski/paddle/strength train or engage in any other form of physical activity to accumulate a total of—your choice:

*75 minutes  *75 hours *75 Kilometers *75 miles - Register for one of the challenges and enter your activity each day.

Each race is $20 with the option to add a T-Shirt for $20.  Youth Inky Lunta event is free with the option to add a T-Shirt for $20
