First Annual Love Where You Live 5K

& Kid's Downtown Dash

Runners, walkers, and joggers are invited to Downtown Spartanburg on May 8, 2021 to take part in the Love Where You Live 5K & Kid's Downtown Dash! The 5K event begins at 10am, starting/finishing @ The Fr8 Yard, while the kid's dash events (50, 100, and 200 yard) will begin at 10:45am. Awards ceremony to follow ~11am. 

After the races are over, in addition to live music, cold drinks, and delicious food served inside The Fr8 Yard, you can expect to find numerous local businesses set up along Main Street, including Eggs Up Grill, Little River Roasting Company, Common Pops and more!

• Every finisher receives a FREE BEER (21+) courtesy of RJ Rockers
• FREE race photos available online, captured by the talented Brian Knox
• Moisture wicking race apparel for all participants
• USATF certified course

5K Registration:

• $25 until 11:59pm on 3/31
• $30 until 11:59pm on 4/30
• $35 until 11:59pm on 5/5
• $40 at packet pickup/race day

• Virtual option - $25 until 11:59pm on 5/8 (t-shirt and certificate will arrive by mail 1-2 weeks after the race)

Kid's Downtown Dash (fun run): 

• $10 (donated directly to PAL)

• Top 3 fastest male and female overall 
• Top 3 fastest male and female in each age group: 18 and under, 19-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+

Covid-19

RunGSP has been working closely with the City of Spartanburg, since late 2019, to engineer a safe and festive atmosphere for participants to enjoy. As the race date nears, more details will be released to ensure we prioritize "safety" while maximizing "fun". We appreciate your patience!

Love Where You Live Campaign

Love Where You Live Campaign is a grassroots movement designed to promote buying local and general support of the Spartanburg community. Their purpose is to support local businesses and economy, growing the vibrant economy that is special to Spartanburg, and to educate its citizens on the importance of thinking locally first when making consumer choices.

Q: When and where is packet pickup?

A: Thursday (5/6) and Friday (5/7) from 3pm-6pm at the Fr8 Yard (226 W. Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306), as well as on site Saturday morning from 8:30am-9:45am. 

Q: Where is parking?
A: Free public parking is available in the Magnolia Street Parking Garage.

Q: Will the course be closed to traffic?

A: The Spartanburg Police Department will be on site at every intersection, keeping the course clear of vehicular traffic

Q: Will there be water stops?

A: There will be a cheer station/water stop located along the race course

Q: Can we walk?

A: Yes!

Q: Are strollers allowed?

A: Yes!

Q: What is the Virtual Race? 
A:  Run, jog, or walk from any location you choose...on the road, on the trail, on the treadmill, at the gym, or on the track. You get to run your own race, at your own pace, and time it yourself. Following the event, your race t-shirt and certificate will be shipped directly to you!
