Event Description

Legend has it that before the time of Elizabeth Wetmore and John Cook, there was the Leprechaun of the Lake.  The Leprechaun has only been seen during the 3rd week of March in the woods surrounding what is now known as Rock Ridge. He is known to carry a "Golden Shillelagh" which has only been seen by 2 previous Rock Ridge residents while they were running at high speeds in the woods now known as Muriel Hepner Park.  Recently one of our own residents, Dan Kane, stumbled upon this shillelagh on the Orange Trail in Muriel Hepner.  He has donated this Shillelagh to RRCC and we would like to honor the Leprechaun by displaying it in the clubhouse for all to see and hosting a race in his honor.

Come try and capture our modern day version of this Golden Shillelagh by competing in a virtual 5K race. The winners names will be etched on the Golden Shillelagh which will be proudly displayed in the clubhouse for years to come.

Here is the path taken by the previous 2 Rock Ridge residents who have seen the Leprechaun of the Lake: https://www.plotaroute.com/route/1455609

Don't forget to upload your times on this site to be eligible for the bragging rights and ability to etch your name on a piece of history.  Race times will be accepted anytime between 3/17 and 3/20.

If you cannot find the leprechaun or win The Golden Shillelagh, you can still reminisce about your efforts/tall tales over a pint or a root beer at the RRCC St. Patrick's Day Celebration .  (ALL runners that sign up and are over the age of 21, your price of admission to the race includes an adult beverage, and those under 21 will receive a special gift from the Leprechaun's Pot of Gold).  The signing and presentation of the Golden Shillelagh will occur each year at the RRCC St. Patrick's Day Celebration.

Be sure not to miss the 2021 Run for the Golden Shillelagh and the RRCC St. Patrick's Day Celebration on March 20th.  Slainte!
