Event Description

Enjoy riding your bike?

Like walking around your neighborhood?

Have fun jogging with friends?

Want to start a daily meditation practice?

Join Going the Distance, where any exercise activity in June raises funds for the Sigrid Hardy Memorial Scholarship.  Managed by The Mayday Foundation, this scholarship helps local kids, whose families have been impacted by cancer, with college expenses.
Grab a coworker, neighbor or friend and start a team to complete your goals together.  We'll travel (virtually!) around the various Providence Regional Cancer System locations to meet our distance challenges.

Read about one local high school graduate who received a scholarship to Saint Martin's University last year.

"I live now on my own, trying to care for myself. Navigating what the rest of my life without (my mom) by my side is scary, but I am trying to do what I know she would have wanted me to do - go to college and be able to support myself. I numb the pain of my loss by making art, music, and continuing to sing in the high school choir in honor of her memory. I even am learning to speak Spanish as she did when she was in college as it was an important part of our culture that we were never taught. I have a variety of interests and passion to want to make an interesting career for myself and college is a way I can do this!" - 2020 scholarship recipient from North Thurston High School.

Make a goal and stick to it in June.  Together, we can make a difference in the lives of kids whose families have been impacted by cancer!

Sign up for Going the Distance today to be a part of making life easier for local families coping with cancer while raising kids at home.

Sponsored by Providence SW Washington and The Mayday Foundation.
